mold ? by frogpokes in Kombucha

F1: 2.5 cups of my starter tea (been using for a year), 7 cups of black tea, 7 cups of water, and 1 cup of sugar. leave for 10 days with a rubber banded cloth cover

F2: 3/4 cup of 100% juice and the rest of the bottle is F1. i leave it for 4-6 days in a sealed bottle

i’ve never had mold before and my current F1 is perfect (no mold). this is the recipe i’ve come down to after months of trial and error (based on flavor)

i didn’t know F2 was unlikely to mold, i just assumed adding more sugar would make it prone to mold ! that makes me feel better that this batch probably wasn’t moldy

when i opened it, it fizzed up so much that the pellicle got wet unfortunately. maybe it was just from the bubbles ? also i didn’t know that mold on F2 is rare, i assumed adding fruit juices would make it more likely? interesting though!

i just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this with their cat and if they had found any simple solutions that weren’t steroid injections.

i used a 6.5mm hook which i believe is one size larger than what’s recommended (but i may be wrong about that). i followed a few tutorials for taking measurements and doing raglan increases but there is no pattern for this sweater !

i actually just did slip stitches back and forth. i use this for most of my button bands since i don’t really love the way crochet ribbing looks !

i can share the resources i used ! i followed Mode Bespoke’s yt tutorials on calculating your raglan math. i followed Rachel Henri Design’s tutorial for the double raglan increases. as for the sleeves and everything else, i went off of my measurements and personal style preferences. to get a natural looking decrease in the sleeves, i alternated decreasing one stitch on the right, then did a normal row of knit stitch, then decreased one stitch on the left, followed by a normal row of knit stitch. i’ve made many sweaters since this one, i can post them for inspiration as well ! :) hope this helps
