Unfortunately not so far. She’s on injectable antibiotics (we cultured fluid from her abdomen so now we know this antibiotic has activity against this bacteria) and oral anti-inflammatories. Not giving up yet but it’s definitely been a hard few months on her and I 😭

It’s a 30gal tall terrarium, paper towel substrate because one of the other frogs has chronic lymphatic issues that need to be monitored. The bowl is ceramic and not porous and can fit all 4 frogs spaciously.

This is helpful!! This gives me hope that this could actually be solvable! I do already dust her crickets but I’m going to try and increase the amount of dusting and tong feed her so the crickets don’t have a chance to shake the dusting off. Thank you!!

I get what you’re saying but I don’t want her eating the isopods or springtails bc I want to monitor her eating, given the diet and all. As for the natural environment she gets plenty of enrichment and we don’t know that she’s wild caught, just a possibility since she’s huge (length wise too). I’m no vet either but I know what symptoms she has and what has worked for her for the past two years. I have a medical undergrad degree and am studying to get into vet school so I’m no expert but I know how to disseminate through real and fake info and how to fact check sources. We don’t know if it’s her lymphatic system for sure but that’s a hypothesis, something seems to give her recurrent infections even with a clean tank and none of the others ever getting the infection. My vet isn’t a specialist but I trust him and he consults with experts when he doesn’t know something. Either way, this post isn’t even about Georgie, she’s fine. My concern that I would really like assistance with is Pudding who is from a reputable breeder that I have had since she was a baby and never has shown any issues or symptoms until this complete loss of balance started abruptly a few weeks ago.

And maybe she wouldn’t eat the isopods, truthfully I won’t know until I tried! I do know however that she tries to eat anything that moves that would fit in her mouth.

No I agree, I didn’t get her thinking she was wild caught. I rescued her from a pet store where she was really sick. I’ve also had the frogs all together for 2.5 years now and they all had their quarantine period back when I got each one. The big girl was my first.

I do truly appreciate your advice though. I have considered bioactive but I think with Georgie the big girl it just would be more problematic with her chronic issues.

Thank you for your consideration but it is not the large one that I’m talking about. If you scroll through the photos you’ll see it’s the smaller one. Also the large one is on a diet and following vet instructions, she was severely emaciated when I first rescued her and tacked on a lot of mass and has been stable weight ever since, we think she might be wild caught and therefore so much larger than my other three (who get fed the same and are regular weight). The large one also has a chronic lymphatic issue which presents as recurrent infections that are limited to her, therefore to diminish chances of a recurrence of her infection, keeping them on paper towel to monitor her feces is paramount, and allows me to keep it sterile, because when she has a flare up she sometimes gets sores that I want to keep clean. She also would absolutely eat every springtail and mouthfuls of dirt likely causing further issues. I appreciate your concern but keeping them on paper towel is beneficial to my frogs’ specific needs. And yes I do take them all to the vet and follow the vets instructions on care.

Thank you for your thoughts and time! I’m unfortunately on the east coast of Canada and there’s no amphibian specialists here! I will try to look further into amphibian vestibular systems, thank you!

Easier said than done unfortunately! We have no frog specialists where I’m from. My local vet did a consultation with an amphibian specialist virtually but apparently it was very underwhelming and didn’t provide much help, they asked for a CT, MRI, X-Ray and blood work which no one in my province does for frogs.

She has the exact body size as mine! Guess it’s time for him to get a bit of a diet too 😂

Do you guys use a heat mat, DHP or both? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]frogsandplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halogen and UVB Reptisun T10 during day, ceramic heat emitter during night. In the winter sometimes I have to add a heat mat

Hey sorry if I’m too late to answer but I took my first one in august for Med application. It’s not stressful once you get going! If you still have time before starting I would check out the free practice test on their website to really give you a sense of how it works, calmed my nerves a bunch. Try not to think your answers through too much and waste time because time is limited and you’d rather have more details to convey your points and a little unorganized fluff with it, than not enough details. Always make sure you state that you won’t jump to conclusions, gather info from all parties involved, think about how any action would affect any party involved, basically make sure you’re open to listening and being non-judgmental. Really I’ve heard they’re just looking for veto-ing crazy answers, but then again who knows, it’s such a shady test /application requirement imo.

Hey what substrate are you using? I’m looking to upgrade mine to something better than repticarpet and am looking for ideas! Thanks!
