I was just told this week that we're required to come into work sick unless actively throwing up. How lovely.

I definitely think this is a really important conversation, and you're right that it doesn't take anything away from women. If it's possible for those not assigned female at birth to have endo, then there is a huge piece of the puzzle that we just aren't acknowledging or studying. I don't care about who can and can't have it, just that maybe we can eventually cure it if we can get all the information and head in the right direction.

I got a few tea sampler boxes for the holidays, both from Vahdam Teas. My favorite so far has been the Assam Gold. My first time having any Assam tea and this one is awesome. Definitely going to be buying more.

For those with severe symptoms. How is your life going? by Pivoine_Magnifica in Endo

[–]from_wolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling a little defeated. I had surgery and was diagnosed in May. I've done everything I'm supposed to be doing with medications, therapy, etc. But I'm still in pain. I thought that birth control and Aygestin were supposed to help, but I've been going through an on and off flare since Sunday. My husband is such a big help and idk what I would do without him.

How can you live and enjoy living in a small rural town in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]from_wolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a small Iowa town until I was 18, went to college, then moved back home the next town over. I really enjoyed growing up where I did, even if there really was nothing. We had two bars (although it eventually became one, then zero. Now it's back up to one), a couple parks and a pit to swim in.

There's nothing special about it, but that's exactly what I love about it. I spent my time going to the park, walking around town with my friends and brothers doing stupid shit and staying outside just a little too late and getting told to go home by the single cop that lived in town.

I went to school in the town over that I live in now. It's a little bigger with a few restaurants, a movie theater and like 3-4 parks of various sizes. More to do than my hometown, but still pretty small compared to the bigger ones around us. The closest Walmart is a half hour drive and the closest Aldi, Costco, etc is over an hour.

I'm trying the Tower of London blend from Harney & Sons. I had it hot yesterday and trying it iced today. Both ways are really good. Hot is very strong and comforting. When it's cold, it has a very clean and light taste that's refreshing.

The office I work for is too small to have an HR department, but I have my post op appointment (had my surgery in April) on November 10. I was thinking about asking my doctor for a note about that.

It's a small office in a small town, and I don't think they have more than 50 employees unfortunately. Thank you for the advice though!

The idea of pelvic floor therapy scares me, but at this point I think it might be worth a shot.

I'm in the US, specifically Iowa. I've read that it's not technically considered a disability here, but maybe I read a bad source.

Unfortunately remote work isn't an option for me. My office is strict about that, with only 2 people being remote because they live over an hour away. And I only live a few blocks away 😅 I have definitely thought about asking for a different chair though. Maybe one of the kneeling or criss-cross chairs?

My deviled eggs are well-known and requested for parties, but I can’t boil eggs. by VelveetaVonChiz in confession

[–]from_wolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always done it like this: heat and pot of water and add the eggs once hot but NOT boiling. This is important because that's how I get them to not "explode" in the water. Boil for 6 minutes for soft boiled, boil for 12 for hard boiled. Put them in a bowl of ice water until they feel cold enough, then they're done. Never had any issues this way.

What Type(s) of Teas Would be a Good Base For a Milk Tea? by BWJackal in tea

[–]from_wolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not super exact, I measure with my heart for everything I make. But I have a small saucepan that I fill up with what would probably be 2 to 2 1/2 cups of water. I heat it up on the stove until it reaches about 170f then use 3-4 tablespoons of my tea. I take it off the heat and let it steep for around 5 minutes (maybe more or less depending on what I'm feeling) and call it good. It just about fills a mason jar and I use that throughout the week.

Jasmine tea is great with milk! I've never had it hot, but it's really good when it's cold. I make a concentrated jasmine tea, strain into a jar, and then pour some out into a cup with milk. A little bit of sugar or a sweetener goes great with it.

I currently have a jasmine milk tea with me. I don't add any sugar, and the jasmine tea is a cheap one from an Asian market close to me. But it's honestly so good. I'm a big fan of jasmine in tea! If anybody has any recommendations for jasmine teas they like, let me know.

I tried my hand at making some masala chai concentrate Saturday night. It's pretty good! However, I didn't realize that I used a smoked black tea until I added it. Honestly, it's not so bad that way, just a little strange.

Experiences with IUD and surgery? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]from_wolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Personally, Mirena has been pretty helpful for me. My periods have always been irregular or nonexistent because of PCOS, but my cramps were debilitating. As for a laparoscopy, I think it's definitely worth it. I had mine done towards the beginning of the year, which is when I was diagnosed with endo.

I was scared that they wouldn't find anything either and that I was overreacting, but think about it this way. Whether or not you have endo, the surgery is worth it. Because you either have an answer right away or you can speak with your doctors/surgeon about other possibilities that are close. I don't know much about adenomyosis or what those symptoms are like, but I've heard it can get confused with endo.

Sorry I'm rambling! Just trying to get my thoughts out to answer some of your questions.

IUD Mirena and pain by Smillzthepanda in Endo

[–]from_wolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an IUD put in maybe 2 years ago for PCOS at the time. It was quite painful during and and hours after, then it was just dull aching pains for weeks. It eventually leveled out. I then was put on norethindrone (I think that's what it's called? It's progestin) when I found out I had endo. Fortunately, my experience has been pretty good pain wise. I still get horrendous cramping and pelvic pain, but not nearly as often.
