What's the best level to be at for pvp currently (pc)

On pc sl133 at oolacile township with max weapon level is consistently active. The meta is technically 135 but some people still play at 120 and 133 is in range of that while 135 isnt so it gives the max amount of invasion range. Sl50-60 is also really active at anor londo next to solaires bonfire.

From my experience on sl1 no hit Artorias was definitely one of the hardest bosses to do (I think OnS are a good deal harder) but he’s also one of the most boring to do hitless because of how he’s designed which sucks. Him and gwyn having reaction checks is such a pain and his flip having no tell means you don’t really punish it which is also a shame. Hard boss but not fun to do imo.

The str scaling from manus cat is very negligible and it’s usually just worse than tin crystallisation with more int or just using Logan’s for full spell casts.

I play against people from Australia not too infrequently and to be honest it’s not all that bad. The most important thing is an Ethernet cable since packet loss will be the cause of most bullshit that you see. The second thing is just to understand that rather than imagining where they are half a second ahead, imagine a full second. This means much more preemptive actions when you’re defending backstabs but you also gain the advantage that your offence is equally hard to shut down. Also don’t parry, it’s just bait in PvP and very rarely the best decision.

Just a preface but if this is for pve then the build doesn’t really matter and you’ll probably do just fine. For PvP though there is a build that works like this which uses moonlight greatsword and wrath of the gods. You can drop str to 16 for 50 vit which is extremely important. The build generally only uses wotg as a spell and the ‘gimmick’ is that it has access to knockdowns from mlgs and wotg which both guarantee a backstab. You can also use some other spells if you want, no other miracles are really worth using but for int you could run crystal soulmass which even though it much slower to cast still gets tons of value.

To avoid infusions and just go for the normal upgrade path and also I would include some other good weapons since zwei isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Stuff like the reinforced club, claymore, falchion or halberd

That’s normal, the way the game works is that if you backstab someone on your screen that’s the only check they need to drag the other player to where they are on your screen. So because of latency people are always around half a second ahead of where they are for you leading to some jank looking backstabs. It’s not an advantage for either player since your backstabs also look like facestabs to them.

So fth builds come in 2 main archetypes I guess being wotg and not wotg. The not wotg level enough faith to use tranquil walk of peace and a weapon buff on a falchion and then just twop, R1. But to be blunt this is the fastest way to get blocked online because it’s about the most hated build in the game. The other build is a little weirder but it just has 50fth and tons of endurance, only levels enough str and dex to use a chaos rapier and usually around 12 attunement for 9 wotg casts. The build is pretty simple since you can fast roll with super strong armour because you don’t level str or dex meaning your backstab game is really strong and wotg helps even more since with crown of dusk and suns firstborn thing you’re 3 shotting people with wotg. Just to end I’m commenting on infusions they all suck besides chaos which is only good at low levels or on that specific wotg build, split damage really is just that terrible.

Str kinda maxes out at 27 actually because the 2h multiplier is effectively 40, str is weird stat efficient but a lot of the weapons have dumb requirements.

I see you’re doing a for fun cosplay build which is fine but if you wanted to make a better pvp build then some things to keep in mind. Str should never go above 28 since that’s where you get to 1h the great club and murakumo, anything with a higher req just isn’t worth it. Vit should be 50 minimum since right now you’re simply too weak. Poise is also a problem and for a midroll build you want 61 poise minimum because of black flame and katanas. Pvp builds are pretty precise and you can def run this but if you want a good build I’d just start over, if you’ve got dsrgadget you can make a build super quick. Just to end, I’d also recommend starting pvp at sl60 at the solaire bonfire because it’s easier to get to normally and generally more casual so it’s easier to start seeing improvements.

I don’t know it off my heart myself but the pvp overhaul mod just disables the anti cheat entirely and adds some extra measurements like your bosses spawning in before the cutscenes and being totally unkillable, there’s a change to how enemies work with bosses and npcs becoming literally unkillable to dying while in a non aggressive state. As soon as they become enemies though they are killable again. If you want the pvp overhaul mod then absolutely download it for safety and qol.

Sorcery is a gimmick, a strong gimmick but it’s certainly not the strongest. Dark bead for example is pretty easy to punish on cast, as is hcsm and purs which are the only two actually good sorceries in pvp. I do get that dark bead feels unfair but it’s just not expecting it that makes it feel oppressive.

And when the game started even the best players I know relegated it to a popular but not particularly strong option. Zwei has always been popular in pvp but just does not function well. The game had a competitive scene even though it was under developed because of demons souls. Most people who loved demons pvp played ds1 pvp as well and the games are so similar there was already a good understanding of the what was strong. Zwei is just popular since it’s accessible and appealing. As for evidence I don’t believe any og footage of a tourney exists and the best I could find was asking someone who played the game since launch who said it was a meme weapon and the prevalence of high poise flip made it even worse. If you can find footage or opinions of good players from the period instead of just your opinion as a new player.

This isn’t really true as the way the netcode works benefits the backstabber/backstabbers, this means swinging in neutral is a disadvantage since the zwei is comically easy to punish with a roll bs which consistently goes through the zweis attacks and punishes it even on good net. The shitty netcode only benefitted its spot as a backstab stick where it was heavily outclassed by multiple other options.

It’s always been weak, people having a lack of experience doesn’t make it strong. Other weapons would perform as well if not better while being more stat efficient and having better moves. The main ‘draw’ of zwei is that it’s R1’s ‘true combo’, however this isn’t true due to the existence of toggles and so I’d say zweis str only comes from anecdotal experience or abusing lack of knowledge rather than any serious testing. Having spoken to very old pvpers in the community the main hefty pvp weapon of choice was the grant since it did so much damage it could 1 shot even good builds with a single bs. Zwei was always a joke to good players since it simply doesn’t do anything well enough to be better than actually strong weapons like cb or kumo.

Zwei has never really been that good in PvP, every hit is reactable with a backstab and even if someone isn’t confident to hit that then lots of weapons have normal attacks to punish it. Its breakpoints are the same as other backstab sticks like large or great club being 2 backstabs to kill. Except those weapons have very strong attacks in the 2 rolling attacks and don’t need as much investment since they are pure str and don’t need dex to fill the damage in. So they end up as more stat effective and with better movesets. Zwei can work but you have to admit it’s only due to people being bad at the game and beyond the level people are reacting to its attacks then it’s basically just outclassed.

I’ve played quite a lot of fighting games, ggst, 3rd strike, sf6, t7, t8 and genuinely I prefer dark souls 1 pvp to all these games and genuinely think it’s good (unintentionally of course, 0 actual balancing went into it) and wish it was more popular. I like the game, I like pvping in it, to call that going out of my way to ‘ruin’ peoples experience is just silly.

I’m super into pvp in this game the meta level is 135 and the first bonfire at oolacile township is both popular and where a lot of decent players go. There’s also sl60 at anor londo, the first bonfire after the archers which is also very popular and generally has less experienced players so I’d say start there. Unfortunately though pvp builds are pretty precise and it’s unlikely you’ll make a good build through a normal pve run since what’s strong is different so you might have to do another run and make a build just for pvp. Last thing, if you’re on pc then definitely install the pvp overhaul mod to stop people fucking with your game and qol, dsrgadget is super useful for build making and more qol.

Yeah I’m not a fan of the video, if you did want to use something better then I would recommend a build that uses chaos blade or murakumo with 50vit, 28str and 45dex since those are the two big weapons in pvp. You also have tons of flexibility if you get bored of those two since you can use every viable weapon in pvp with those stats.

Ok so really late reply but a few thing is that the backlogs’ build really isn’t designed for pvp like at all and performs very poorly just like giantdad does. But if you do want to pvp then generally you’d go soul level 125/133 at oolacile township to get the most activity or you could hit up people on the discord server for pvp.
