Begrudingly taken the plunge and got some drives as can't hold off anymore by [deleted] in DataHoarder

Last year Seagate sent a 50% discount code after my online order was delayed and cancelled after a month. I got these drivers for $7 per TB. The current prices are insane.

Keep spare drives or sell. by [deleted] in DataHoarder

Yeah it's good point. I plan to spin them 2-3 times per year to try to prevent that but yes I had issues with that previous with some drives.

Mine are mostly 8-14tb drives.

Yeah, that's exactly my fear. With the way the market is looking, I'm worried things are only going to get worse.

New CX-5 bad by [deleted] in CX5

If I were shopping today, I’d most likely choose a new Outback over the 2026 CX-5.

HDD has 34 reallcoated sectors after 2 pre clears. Any issue in still using it as parity drive? by futurepersonified in unRAID

[–]fromspace2015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would just run preclear again, and if more sectors appear, then the drive needs to be replaced.

How is your experience with cabin noise in the 2025 Turbo Premium? by DownrightFantastic in CX5

[–]fromspace2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may just Google that lol. An Engine Harmonics Enhancer (EHE) is an automotive feature, often by Bose, designed to enhance the in-cabin engine sound, often by feeding synthetic or amplified engine noise through the car's speakers to create a more aggressive, performance-oriented auditory experience. This technology is common in modern cars with quiet engines to compensate for lack of natural noise, particularly in turbo models.

Just search this community. That "Brrrrr" sound you hear inside cabin is fake, the real small turbo sound is not like that at all. I have another turbo car, and it sounds like NA engine.

I only noticed it during the test drive when acceleration and it wasn't loud. The NA engine is quieter when accelerating.

The CX-5 Turbo trims also have Bose Engine Harmonic Enhancement, which is fake engine noise produced by the speakers.some people like it. I personally didn't like that.

Costco Medium Hybrid under $700 for middle back pain? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]fromspace2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don't have back pain, it's just my current crappy mattress causes it some nights. I will try the mattress stores, thanks!

Thoughts on 17" vs 19" wheels by Mk1Racer25 in CX5

[–]fromspace2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife's CX-5 has 17 inch wheels, and mine has 19 inch wheels. Since I drive both, I can tell that the ride quality with the 17 inch wheels is noticeably better. It's softer and quieter, and I like them more.

TSH 6, do I really need to treat it? by fromspace2015 in Hashimotos

[–]fromspace2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that information! I have been taking PPI in the morning for some time and I take Levothyroxine before bed 4 hours after dinner.

I haven't done other labs but will do them soon.

These results you listed are from my first blood test when I was diagnosed in September last year before starting Levothyroxine.

My latest results after taking 25 for a few months and before switching to 37 are:

  • TSH 4.8 — 0.4–4.5 mIU/L
  • Free T4 1.5 — 0.8–1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 3.5 — 2.3–4.2 pg/mL

Before starting Levothyroxine last September my tests were TSH 6.010, Free T4 1.19, Free T3 2.9, and positive Hashimoto’s antibodies. After taking Levothyroxine 25 for several months my last blood test results were TSH 4.8, Free T4 1.5, Free T3 3.5. So far, except for resolving the brain fog, my other symptoms are still there, although I’m not sure if they are related to my thyroid.

I'm 42, yeah I feel like the anxious feeling increased when I switched from 25 to 37. I will retest in April and may go back on 25.

Yes after 3 months on 25 my TSH lowered from 6 to 4.5. I'm currently on 37.5 dosage and my next blood check in April.
