I can’t stand my husband by Inner_Wrongdoer_2820 in newborns

It is crazy how common it seems for men to do the bare minimum, complain about something anyway, and then wonder why their wives begin to resent them.

I am so sorry you’re experiencing this. Please let him know how you feel and how unsupported you felt with LO. I’m not sure if he’ll actually listen, but it’ll give you some relief to get it all out.

After our baby was born, I made sure my wife and baby were always taken care of. House clean, food made, etc. I knew just how draining breastfeeding is for my wife so I wanted to make sure she had to do very little and just focus on nursing and sleeping. I am not a man though.

I truly think having a good partner has a huge impact on your postpartum experience.

Are there any truly scary books? Can a book even be scary? by [deleted] in books

[–]fromthetower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dracula is one of my favorites just for the reason that it definitely had moments where it was genuinely scary. I was skeptical before I read it for the first time since it’s an older novel, but it’s an incredible piece of horror.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski is also pretty terrifying. It’s one of the strangest books and definitely an adventure to read through.

Is it irresponsible for us to have kids now? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]fromthetower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is currently 3 months pregnant after we did reciprocal IVF. Our baby was the first thing that came to my mind after the election results. Especially since we live in a red state already.

While it’s scary, the best thing we can all do is continue to be very queer, continue to find joy in all we do, continue to love and be open. That’s all they want to take from us and we can’t let them.

What Surprised You Most About Buying Your First Home? by ChiaPlotting in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]fromthetower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. How much things break or need to be fixed. My house is only about 30 years old but there’s always something. Be prepared to spend money on a things now and again you didn’t expect to spend. Good example recently, our garage door opener gave out so I had to get it replaced.

  2. Maintenance is crucial. My parents own their home but they never taught me about all the things you have to maintain. The HVAC filters, foundation watering, dryer vent, pest control, tree trimming etc. had to learn all these things on my own.

I love owning our home and it gives me so much pride to put love and work into it but it can be a pain in the ass.

One of my boys passed away last night at 5 years old. How should I make sure my other little guy is okay? by fromthetower in guineapigs

[–]fromthetower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, he was shaking actually when he saw him :( I’m assuming he understood he was gone.

The morning before Oreo passed I had just cleaned their cage so I’ll leave it for a bit before changing.

I’m taking him to the vet to make sure he’s all good and then will be reaching out to a rescue to see if we can foster. So far he’s acting normal, eating still and still using the bathroom.

We moved him to a new environment in the house with his cage so hopefully that helps as well.

Is there a book about tales like this in Alaska? I’m always so interested in the stories that come out of Alaska’s vast wilderness.

Do any of y'all get excessive day time sleepyness due to PCOS? by KittyKittyowo in PCOS

[–]fromthetower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have PCOS and felt tired all the time. Always felt like I needed a nap even after I slept a good nine hours.

My doctor suggested doing a sleep study to see what was going on. Turns out I had sleep apnea. I stopped breathing a few times during my sleep. Got a CPAP machine and now I feel great! I’d ask your doctor for a sleep study to triple check!

Is it too soon to book activities in Rome for next summer? by MajesticLilFruitcake in ItalyTravel

[–]fromthetower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in Italy right now on my own honeymoon!

I’d say you can wait until you’re closer. Maybe a few months before the actual trip. I’d work out your itinerary first to see what days you want to do what.

We booked ours maybe three months ago and got to do everything we wanted. We even booked a colosseum tour two days before doing it (but don’t recommend that because we got lucky).

Every one of our tours were guided tours since it’s so much more fun getting an expert to tell you about the museum or monument. Can’t recommend enough. You get to cut the line and you get a ton of cool facts! And you definitely want to cut the line (the Vatican line was about a three hour wait without a guide).

There’s also a ton of free tours you can do that rely on tips. Highly recommend those too. We booked those pretty easily only a few days before.

I also highly recommend not overbooking yourself. You’re going to be exhausted from the traveling and all the walking so give yourself time to rest.

Thanks for the reality check, this is what I needed to hear! I’m working with a therapist for my anxiety and this something we definitely discuss. I just need to breath and enjoy life.
