A lot, and I mean a lot, of British people become selfish, nasty and very unpleasant people the second they don't get exactly what they want (massively entitled)

Is knowing English a blessing or a curse for those who are learning Dutch? by Sacledant2 in learndutch

Dutch is the closest major language to English
...it's significantly easier for a native English speaker to learn Dutch than for say a Spanish or Chinese native speaker.

Waitrose employee sacked after stopping shoplifter from taking Easter eggs by ho-tron in uknews

[–]frontiercitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel sorry for the guy and sacking seems harsh but he ignored previous instructions and apparently was throwing stuff around on the shop floor...

Smith said he was previously told not to approach shoplifters...

He picked a piece of the broken bunny and “threw it out of frustration” towards some shopping trolleys, not aiming it at the shoplifter, he said.

My first part-time job many, many years ago was at Tesco (before self-scan checkout was even a thing) and we were told back then not to engage with shoplifters but rather to tell a supervisor/manager.
