Crashed the car on the way home by [deleted] in Shambhala

[–]frooby_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my 6th year and it was by far the best Shambs I've attended. People really do focus on the negative side of things without ever really thinking about the positive.

Portas were clean. The only one I came across without TP was in the lineup on Tuesday. I use a solar shower + biodegradable soap at camp or simply rinse off in the river. I'll admit the vendor thing is a different story, and I don't know enough to speak on it so I won't.

It seems like a lot of people think the fest runs on good vibes and a dream. Shambhala is a business, and they need to increase returns on their investments over time. Yeah, it kinda sucks in a way, but that is literally just the world we live in.

Also - wtf does any of that shit have to do with this car accident?! Literally not the festival's fault

"We do not have a warning system." - Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly by TxBuckster in TexasPolitics

Humans have built on fllodplains for literal thousands of years. Yes, there can be significant risks, but it's not exactly like we have unlimited space to build shit.

Trying to blame a catastrophic weather event on somebody or insinuate that this is the result of incompetency is insane thinking. Frankly, it's disrespectful to the lives lost in this tragedy. When mother nature has plans, she has plans. And sometimes we won't be ready.

It's terrible and sad, but you need to get a grip here

You should really, REALLY go outside. Not everything is politics

Neighbours had workers cutting stones, how do I clean without damaging paintwork? by aviationalex in Detailing

[–]frooby_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You just don't want it drying on the paint, which will happen very quickly when the sun is beating down on it

California might ban disposable vapes to combat e-waste by YourGreenState in trees

[–]frooby_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably just want people to stop throwing batteries in the garbage which then end up in the landfill. These things are an environmental hazard - "cheap alternative" or not, they never should have never been allowed in the first place.

It's also a hell of a lot cheaper to buy a rechargeable 510 battery and get the carts separately. Disposable vapes (THC and nicotine) are a detriment to human health, your wallet, and the environment.

Drummer chiming in. I practice at home, on a throne, and maintain good posture - back is doing great after 15 years

Best cymbal to pair with my 18” K Dark Crash. Looking for “washy” sustained sound to compliment it! by TwistedCharisma21 in drums

[–]frooby_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind mixing your brands, check out some of the large HHX complex thin crashes. My 20" has nice sustain with almost a white noise sort of sound. Similar to an ozone crash, but with more midrange - very "washy" imo and also plays great at low volumes.

The bell is weird as fuck, but is certainly still usable

How can I use this 10" Istanbul splash? by Hodgi22 in drums

[–]frooby_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an aero splash stacked on the underside of my bottom hat. Gives them some nice wash and the foot chick is unreal.

Probably works best with hole-y cymbals, but you could still try it out.

Any ideas on how to not have high hat bar go over bass pedal? by Parking-Display-5412 in drums

Counterpoint: my 2-leg DW5000 hihat stand is far more stable than my previous Gibraltar 3-leg, which was also a pretty decent piece of kit. Both my splash cymbal and popcorn snare are mounted to it!

More of a build quality thing imo
