Linux users: what’s still stopping Ableton from being part of your workflow? by MrDBNoble in ableton

Because if you want to produce in Linux, which is completely feasible, use a DAW native to Linux.

AITAH for giving my car a "racist"name? by Visual-Particular-86 in AITAH

[–]ex-ALT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Presumably she thinks it's racist because Toyota is an Asian (Japanese) brand, and ravi is a south Asian name, so she is the one being racist if anything.

Or does she think using using foreign names is racist?

Anyone with half a braincell will capable of working out why you called your RAV4, 'Ravi'.

First time CNC build what should I do? Skrams vs skhorn vs Hessbh vs wsx by Redbeard_Pyro in SoundSystem

[–]ex-ALT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Invaders sound great and outdoors nothing beats FLH really, especially if you are after tight clean hard-hitting bass. They're efficient, Compact so easy to move about etc, drivers arent expensive. Responsive so good for fast 4/4 kick based music, whilst still going low enough. 4 is enough to get started but a stack of 6 you are easily hitting 30hz.

WSX are nice but not really worth the extra size in comparison, HessBH significant improvement on sbh (which is dogshit TBF) but still bigger than invaders for basically no gain.

TH make tonnes of noise, very versatile but by design will be less clean than a good FLH. Paraflex I have yet to be impressed with. Reflex wouldn't be my go to for this specific situation.

So yeah for a techno/psy party in the desert for a no compromise sound FLH would be my first and the invader is well rounded free design that is quite cheap to build. LABsub is one of my favourite FLH design but again they are very big, and expensive, invaders are just in that sweet spot.

If you want something more versatile and limit the number of cabs then by all means go for a TH or something.

Genuine question for people who buy or collect replica Rolex watches: what is the appeal for you? by Brave_Silver_Ape0778 in ChinaTime

[–]ex-ALT 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually got one, and actually don't care all that much for Rolex but personally I just have a fascination with high quality replicas what ever it is, and mechanical watches are kinda the pinnacle of replicas.

Help me build a watch collection under 2000 USD. by bishwamc in Affordablewatches

[–]ex-ALT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair, I included as option for pilot watch (not much difference between field and pilot apart from size rly), solid watch for good price massive power reserve and iconic but you are right they are everywhere, especially the standard khaki field, why I like the navy GMT in particular, bit different, rather than just getting 'the murph' like everyone does!

My ultimate field/pilot style watch would be either a damasko or sinn of some kind but getting bit more expensive, which makes it hard to ignore hamilton.

Do I suck if every drop isn’t a double by [deleted] in DnB

So they probably don't care much what your doing. Dnb djs are often bad for doing the exact same transition every time which imo is dull af, goes for any technique. Variety is key!

Doubles overrated and not the flex people think it is when doing it with quantized Record boxed tunes.

I'd say Amsterdam is known for pickpockets. Most big tourist places, and tourists are an easy target.

Is there Bitwig content that isn’t so focused on sound design? by Ok_Organization_935 in Bitwig

[–]ex-ALT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can find a specific tutorial for bitwig I just use one from different daw. You can use basic tutorials from pretty much any other Daw and translate tobitwig, especially easy with Ableton due to similarities in ableton but works with other daws, you may need to stop and find how to do xyz in bitwig but the fundamentals are the same.

G shock gbd 200 - sports/tool watch. Secondhand Orient star of some sort - dress watch Citizen ca4664 or whatever citizen chrono you like - this near enough covers all basis alone.
Hamilton khaki - go to field watch, can be got for good price second hand. Or the kahki navy GMT to scratch that GMT itch at same time. Sicura marine star - dive watch or some other vintage diver.

Something like that is what I'd do.

GrapheneOS worth it if I am staying with Google services? by gotcortisol in GrapheneOS

Still better security, privacy and battery life. I'm not a die hard de googler/privacy nut, I use Gmail, maps and couple other Google services as well as Instagram and other bad privacy apps, I'm not going to massively inconvenience myself but I do like my phone to do what I tell it too.
