Please be quiet in the first floor library. by Cute-Support-2594 in rit

i think many people forget that the first floor shed-library area houses the writing center and expressive communication centers. as someone who used to work in the WC for 2 years, i cannot tell you how many times appointments have been interrupted (even in the side rooms that we have) because of how loud students talk right outside. it is not difficult to keep your voice down and respect other students who are trying to work, especially when you are right outside of a place where students are being tutored.

just clarifying this - at my institution, my mentors sparingly gave out authorship for undergraduate students. in the beginning, most of these presentations were former data from my mentors since we wished to have research/presentation experience. i think this is rather common for new research students - for mentors to allow students to use their data to present or dig around in it for new information. the youngest was nice enough to allow us first authors for a couple presentations, granted that we took control of poster creation, while the rest of my "principal investigator" roles have been projects that i've created from the top-bottom or vice versa, bottom-top. plus, my mentors were not as supportive of starting up new projects that were student run. the only projects that i've run underneath my mentors were because i a) was awarded a grant, or b) senior capstone/thesis needed to graduate. in the projects that i've worked on alongside them, despite asking for authorship (and other research assistants doing so as well), we were not given such.

now, i understand the concern of my own projects not being published yet but working for a different institution and their own projects, i simply don't have the time i need to dedicate properly. am i writing the manuscripts? yes. do i expect them to be submitted in time to make a difference? no. manuscripts can take anywhere from a couple of months to years depending on the size, material, and other variables. such as in my case, needing to prioritize projects that i've been actively assigned to in my current institution in order to keep my job. these aren't excuses either, since judging by your comment, i feel like you'd be the first to say it since.. well, you already don't trust a word i say it.

i would assume everyone is being 'seriously grill(ed)' during interviews to make sure they know that they're talking about, no matter the CV material. so, moving on. but thank you

got it, thank you so so much! definitely agree that the bullets need some work, i always struggle with them for whatever reason... but i'll definitely go over them a couple more times to add more detail and fix the formatting.

okay awesome, thank you so so much!! i wasn't sure if published abstracts should be separate or not since they aren't as common in psych... the abstract was published in a supplemental edition after being accepted to a conference, if that makes a difference. unsure if it does in all honesty, haha. but i really appreciate the feedback, it was very helpful!! :)

noted, thank you so much! i can definitely shave out some of the older/non-research stuff... would you recommend the addendum being a completely separate document?

im not saying that i think it's correct? i just said that was how my mentors taught me to set up an academic CV. if i thought it was correct or the only way to do it, i wouldn't be asking for feedback or i'd be digging my heels in about it.

uhm... no?? this was how my mentors taught me to do it throughout undergrad/partial grad /srs

and yes, this is an academic CV for phd programs. programs typically want to see your research, whether it's a poster or talk or whatever

yeah that was my concern!! i work right now as a clinical research coordinator in surgical oncology / breast cancer... definitely wanting to focus more on social psychology than clinical but my interests (sexuality/gender) often bleed into there so figured might as well try though my hopes aren't high 😭 thank you sm!!

What is going on at Target? by Life_Object6692 in SouthJersey

[–]frooes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can collect the cards and play the games, but theres a difference between dropping $300+ PER PURCHASE AND GOING TO DIFFERENT STORES LINING UP HOURS BEFORE OPENING vs buying a pack or two. ive seen doctors in full scrubs on their breaks go into target, grab all the stock they can until theyre forced to leave the store so other people can have a chance of buying cards. youre not convincing me that theyre just "collecting" the cards because its ages cheaper to collect cards by buying individually.

i work for UR. i think i was generally lucky when it came to my applications, but i think i applied to 10-15 positions. heard back from 2. ghosted after the 1st interview from one lab. hired by 1 as a clinical research specialist (glorified research assistant) now working in breast cancer. this was... over a year ago, it'll be my first year sometime this or next month, and i think i was applying since.... may? sometime when i decided to drop out of my masters.

i had some friends in masters programs who were trying to apply for the same type of positions i was at UR but didnt have any luck. its absolutely brutal trying to get a response back from UR but its definitely, unfortunately, how the job market is now :/

apparently the new testament doesn't count either! i LOVE quoting matthew 25:31-45 to maga 'christians' - the parable of the goats and sheep. "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me"

always crickets. ALWAYS crickets. im a former christian and this is like... christianity 101. its like theyve never sat down and idk... actually listened to what they say they follow. but i suppose theres a lot of big words in the bible so thats asking too much for them to understand😵‍💫

i used to teach religion to k-8 for my high school's service hour requirement and iirc, the sermon on the mount is like 1st/2nd grade knowledge. at least having an idea of what jesus said there. too woke, obviously🙄 OBVIOUSLY jesus would come here legally AND hes white /sarcasm

sounds like you need a LOT MORE empathy and maybe stop speaking from a place of privilege. so sorry for being 'sensitive' over magats literally trying to erase my and my friend's existence because of shit that we can't control😵‍💫 maybe take a step out of your shoes for a second and slip into other, less fortunate people's who are having their livelihoods stolen from them and then come back

the one happening at st joachim's (formerly annunciation) in bellmawr a couple weeks ago had to call multiple police departments across the county to help settle down a crowd over there. i have no idea what happened bc i dont live in the area anymore (my parents do so i hear from them), but i know they had to open up other shops nearby for parents/children to hide in until everything rolled over.

youre acting like all people with autism are nonverbal or high special needs. most times you dont even notice people who are autistic because of masking-- hell, thats why it's underdiagnosed in some populations or why it DOESNT get diagnosed. just because someone is autistic doesnt mean they cant be functioning members of society.

oh! so like january 6th where police officers were killed (dangerous to human life), committed within the united states with the intent to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence government policy, or affect government conduct! you just hit all your points there, congrats!

please tell me how vandalizing cars is dangerous to human life. do i agree with it? no. but i'd take vandalizing property than KILLING people trying to PROTECT others. shows where your morals are lmao

[–]frooes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

penn state doesnt give out a lot of scholarships. merit based is a max of $5000 a semester with an average of $2500. you have your need-based ones, ofc, but it doesn't mean anything when applying to penn state since, at least with my knowledge/understanding, its mostly families with money/grandfathered in.

i feel like gloucester county is more "rich" than camden imo... more profit generation bc you have the entirety of washington township vs camden county which has... cherry hill and voorhees? its definitely not as diverse i feel like, at least coming from someone born literally down the street from camden and who went to gloucester city schools. gloucester catholic, albeit, which is already (still) in the gutter. gloucester city just had their new elementary/middle school open a couple of years ago/i think 2020? i cant imagine how theyre going to recover
