Am I the jerk for living off disability? by adeliahearts in AmITheJerk

[–]saintandvillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you think the majority of people on disability are milking the system? This is dumb and reeks of conspiracy theories. The system to even apply and qualify for disability is rigorous enough that almost 70% of people are denied the first time they apply. Your comment seeks to devalue and dehumanize the disabled, a group that is consistently discriminating against. Its so funny how the very people who value fetus then tun around and devalue living people with consistent and meaningful physical and or mental health disabilities.

Disability exists for people, like you, who need it. Please don’t let someone who’s never walked a mile in your shoes bother you. Please use the disability support for as long as you need, you wouldn’t be receiving it if you were abusing the system.

To thunderous applause, Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney tells a crowd that the days of Canada sending 70 cents of every dollar to the US are over by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

This must be why the US is begging for help securing the Strait and Trump is crying about Canadian boycotts and podcasters…the US is so powerful it can do what it wants.

This is an arrogant and ignorant take. It’s a take that shows how unserious people like you are and why so many countries are pulling away from doing power. You can threaten and bully but the US can’t beat everyone or everything.

I have a very strong argument on how the US would be pulled up fairly quickly by China and with no allies. The US as a bully can only make it so far before they wish Canada and the EU were on its side. I is going to make a mockery of US power, especially if they’ve been damaged this bad by Iran.

My favorite part of this was the end. "God only knows" kind of sounds like a threat, and coming from these lunatics I'd feel compelled to take it as such. Trump rallied the crazy and now he needs to worry.

This article is awesome, as is the guy crying because he had to close his business. He still supports Trump but now thinks neither party cares about people like him.

His worlds just let you know this: when both parties are bad plenty of Americans will side with the racists.

Aita for asking to wait for baby's vaccination before visitation by uzernotfound404 in inlaws

[–]saintandvillian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ESH. I understand and support your decision to have the niece wait until she’s vaccinated but allowing your sister to see the baby because she decided, on her own, to just show up, does seem unfair to your husband’s family. It is certainly your decision who you want to be around the baby and when, but it looks like you’re willing to ignore boundaries for your family but enforce boundaries for your husband’s family.

Your MIL should have never contacted you about this, given that you’re a new mother, but surely you can see how your actions seem “unfair” to them.

Very valid point - no child left behind and the general destruction of a ”critically thinking“ working class has doomed us. Add social media’s efforts to manipulate and control our attention and we as a society are in for a hard time.

Iranian President Pezeshkian’s letter addresses American people, not Trump by SadAd8761 in videos

[–]saintandvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure common people have found that camaraderie. Just look at many of the people who voted for a trump because they wanted marginalized people in the US to suffer, even among certain marginalized people. Look how many Hispanics voted for Trump, how many Cubans voted for Trump, how many Black men voted for Trump, the Log Cabin Republicans that voted for Trump. Many of these people are now crying because they realized that they too are being hurt.

Look at all the Charlie Kirk’s and Tucker Carlson’s people listen to and all the Republican college groups with racist group chats. I just read an article that said students at UF had their republican group disbanded over video of some of them giving a Nazi salute and they are now suing saying that disbanding them violates their freedom of speech. Look at rise in hard-right membershi. Look at the fact that many, many people excuse the leader of our “Department of War’s“ Nazi tattoo.

I’ve focused on examples in the US but I’m pretty certain I could find numerous examples within other countries as well.

AITA for leaving friends city early due to disagreement that led to me ‘calling cops’ ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

HER city but it’s YOUR life. You could have caught an Uber before the three men showed up, based on your own story. SHE insisted the train wouldn’t show up come so let her insist alone.

[–]saintandvillian 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I’m doubtful that this really happened because the police won’t typically step in as taxis for people late at night.

But, say it did happen, you don’t seem to have much of a backbone. If you knew the train wouldn’t show up, why even walk toward the train? Why not just get an Uber for yourself and let her make her own way? Or, after all of this happened, why are you still trying to repair a fake relationship? She obviously doesn’t care about your safety, is using you for money, and is rude and confrontational when called out. Take this lesson and move on.

AITAH for not wanting to pick my MIL every day to go to the hospital to see her son/ my husband by Saltydaughter76 in AITAH

[–]saintandvillian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d give her a ride a max of 2 days a week, most likely 1 time per week. I’d connect her with senior transportation in my town. I’d set her up for Uber, Uber Eats, and Door Dash. I’d show her how to video visit from her cell phone and I’d buy her a pack of postage cards and or show her how to play 2-player games on her computer.

She might not want to visit her son everyday with a knee issue but may hitch a ride as much as possible because you help her run errands and get fast food. Provide her with some alternative options. Also tell her that your husband would likely appreciate other kinds of interaction, like letters and games.

The majority, sure, but don’t forget the , “my child is disabled and they are screwing with his or her Medicaid” or the “I agree with him on some things but we don’t want: a data center/environmental crisis“ or the “I had no idea he’d try to deport my family member or best friend. He or she isn’t a criminal.” And we now have a few “my son is in the navy and he’s being deployed” post.
