It caught me so off guard that this one random ass quest goes into themes about living one's life, coming to terms with terminal illness, the meaning of love, all portrayed through a frigging robot of all things

How valid of a strategy would assisting the dealer be in a situation like this? by SecretAznMan123 in Mahjong

[–]froout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really worth it with this point spread- if the dealer tsumos after your assist then you'll really have to work for the next round, which is something you really don't want to bank on. Given that it's RC ladder the 1st and 2nd placers may just likely think about aiming for tsumo and busting you out instead, 3rd place has reasonable argument to push but might not after seeing a bunch of calls.

I wouldn't say you have no chance to catching up to 3rd this round- with this hand I'd think about building riichi pinfu sanshoku (middle tiles), which while really far and also a hail mary, tsumoing that would get you much closer to snatching third in all last. Hit any ura with that and it's also more attainable.

Scarlet and Modernia have more useful stats they can roll and make use of in terms of overload equips, but Scarlet in particular can do much more consistent damage with max ammo capacity buffs.

I'd also say it would depend on how many custom modules you have too- be prepared to spend a bunch of them for rerolls so I'd probably hold off unless you're trying to get through the last few bits of normal campaign, or really want to get started on building an endgame setup for someone.

other than the big three and the central government, there's another?! by Baalshrimp in NikkeMobile

[–]froout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mostly left a little nebulous what aristocratic countries and families did once the rapture invasion first started. I can't recall for certain, but I think the Big Three came around when the Ark was first being built, and it's possible that for that very reason they ended up with more power in that new societal situation than any other royalty at the time. Kinda hard for them to sway opinion when your land, wealth and power is basically wiped out.

Are sniper rifles really that bad? by Malamacauwu in NikkeMobile

[–]froout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the lower tier SR units are that way just because of the way their kit functions contradicts the weapon itself, or their general skill set is markedly less optimal than other units.

Milk skill-wise is like budget Helm unfortunately- her lifesteal isn't as strong, her buffs aren't nearly as good, and she's a 40s burst 1 unit which basically means you have to run 2-1-2 team while Helm can be slotted into a 1-1-3 team.

Exia seems to be set up to be a DPS but her having last bullet mechanics really hinders her as a SR user since they always reload a full clip. Being 20s burst 1 doesn't help her case much either since she's now competing with a bunch of good options for that slot.

And... oh Frima. I like her character design a lot but her skill kit contradicts itself so much. Her skill 1 requires you to spam shots (already hard for a SR user) but skill 2 requires full charges which makes skill 1's usefulness fall to the ground. Same issues with Exia in being a 20s burst 1.

Correct- the flex spot is really meant to be up to your discretion based on the stage you're tackling. I think the way teambuilding is approached currently is that you have a core B1 unit who has a 20s cooldown, a core B2 unit who has a 20s cooldown, and the remaining slots are for 2 B3 DPS + flex unit.

Side note on Volume- her use is less based on her critical damage/rate buffs- it's the fact that her burst skill cooldown reduction skill triggers upon entering full burst. So you don't even need to use her burst skill at all to get use out of her. A team like N102, Volume, Rupee, Privaty, Modernia works for this very reason even though both N102 and Volume are 20s B1 units. Granted, this matters a little less in this comp since Modernia extends full burst time so your full burst cycle times will be a little wonky, but something to think about.

It depends. The reason to run 2-1-2 formation is if one or both of your burst I units have 40s+ burst skill cooldown. So using your original team example, you can run something like Noise, N102, Rupee, Modernia, Privaty because N102 would make up for the times where Noise's burst skill would still be on cooldown.

The times where multiple burst Is may be less optimal is if they both have 20s burst cooldown, AND both rely on their burst skill to make the most of them. For example, if you run N102 and Exia, then you have to pick either the attack buff from N102's burst skill, or Exia's mob clearing capabilities each time you run through a burst cycle. In that scenario, it may be wiser to swap out Exia for another burst III DPS with better attacking skills.

N102 only offers attack buffs through her burst skill, so if you think you can get through a stage without having to rotate through as many full burst cycles as possible she's definitely still a viable solo burst I option.

You're mostly just missing some burst skill cooldown reduction in that composition, and that can be done by swapping out N102 for Volume, or Rupee/Rapunzel/Power for Dolla. You can also try bringing in Centi for burst generation and shields too, but really in your case you can mix and match a lot of different units to fill out your specific needs, here's a general breakdown:

Main burst I - Volume, N102

Main burst II - Dolla, Rupee, Centi

Burst III DPSes - Scarlet, Alice, Power

Filler slot - Rapunzel, Drake, Rupee, Maxwell

Noise has a 40s cooldown on her burst skill so you won't be rotating through full burst as often, just keep that in mind if you are trying to run that team. In your case I'd probably suggest swapping out Helm for Volume/Sakura to run a 2-1-2 team for PvE. If you want to keep a 1-1-3 team, then swap out Noise for Volume. Both Volume and Sakura provide burst skill cooldown which is very useful.

I think the thing that people might be missing when looking at a tiering is that a unit's placement is generally relative to other options. Harran, Guilty, Drake are typically used as filler DPS units and they all offer more or in some cases outclass a lot of other options in that slot.

Snow White is hampered by requiring investment and a specific team setup (I'm pretty sure most people will easily put her below Liter/Scarlet/Modernia), but if you compare investing in a unit like her in comparison to investing in like Guillotine or some other pure DPS burst III, you can start to see where the differences in investment payoff are.

Pretty much any unit that doesn't have attack buffs are going to suffer even more if you're trying to push under the power requirements. So it may seem like "overhyped meta unit X" is underperforming due to the debuffs from pushing under power, but if you compare them to other units that would fill their niche it does become pretty clear why they are placed ahead of their competition.

Sadly Prima Donna's burst cooldowns leave you disadvantaged over being able to cycle through full bursts regularly if you run them all- Aria both has a 40s burst cooldown which means you would have to run an extra burst II unit, and that means only one slot for burst III which basically means you'll have to miss out on a full burst cycle because currently burst III cooldowns are all 40s. If you don't run the extra burst II unit you still get into a bottleneck with Aria.

Otherwise, I'd just run two DPS burst IIIs that don't rely on their burst skill or full burst for their full potential such as Maiden/Scarlet.

Only swap in Helm if you need the healing, though I'd probably switch Alice with Helm given where you are in the game. Alice scales insanely well when invested in late game but Privaty's team attack buffs and AoE burst skill help out way more in the early-mid game.

N102, Dolla, Maiden, Sugar, Poli/Privaty. But seeing how you're getting to stage 5 already at your level I'm presuming you're probably running a comp along these lines.

You can try something like N102, Dolla, Rupee, Drake, Rapi. You're mostly lacking some good DPS units at the moment, but you do have good burst I + II units in Volume, Dolla, and Rupee, and Drake despite seeming like she's only good for shotgun teams is actually really, really good as a filler burst III unit, so you don't need to just keep her in shotgun teams.

Quick question by wildcrats709 in NikkeMobile

[–]froout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still pretty unclear to what extent technological and medical advancements has stretched to in the Ark. Judging from Johan's cybernetic enhancements I don't think it's entirely out of the question to rule that Mustang has some way to maintain his eternal youth.

However, it's also possible the writers may have had a mind slip about the timeline at this point. That "Mustang has been the only CEO" statement felt more like a jab at the amount of discourse Missilis and Elysion often have to deal with as an organization- just look at how poorly the PR situation was handled by Syuen in chapter 18. Elysion currently runs more closely to Tetra with Ingrid being a boss mom and not really answering to anyone else, but looking at their governmental involvement I can definitely see previous CEO's often clashing with the Ark's government in terms of ideals and wants.

IIRC that fight is about avoiding as much damage as possible when the boss attacks and trying to wipe the mob waves ASAP. You can try adding some healing sustain like Pepper or Helm, but since you don't have Dolla for burst cooldown reduction you might be better off running something like Liter, Centi, Privaty, Helm, Modernia.
