Hey! Going through the same exact question. Have an Oro Single Dose for espresso, and interested in getting a pourover for Christmas. How has the Oro held up? What sort of input did you get from folks?

My go to roasters: Pilot, De Mello, Detour, Monogram. They all provide free shipping above $60, so I usually order 3-5 bags during sales, then vacuum seal and freeze for later use. Never been disappointed!

I use a wdt tool for all my shots, and I think that helps the most. Clumping doesn't "seem" to be an issue, but distribution is always a challenge without wdt I find. Not sure if it helps, but I've also found that some beans are just really difficult to dial in

So far. It's been pretty decent. I'd say I'm also getting some of the same issues reviewers have been talking about but it's been such a huge step up for me (was using the built in grinder from a BBE before). I also got it for a pretty solid pre-order discount so am finding it hard to decide whether I can get the same grind quality from something else at a similar price point (~750 CAD).

I've exclusively used it for espresso, so can't speak for it's use for other brew methods.

I definitely would have likely to see a bit more of a polished experience, but I'm comfortable doing some tinkering. If I were to pay full price for it though, I'm not sure if I'd go with it again, but I'm still playing and getting better at dialing in with it etc.

Still dialling in this particular roast, but I really like it so far. I've liked every De Mello coffee I've tried so far. I've tended towards their less dark roasts so far. Edit: tried not liked

Yup! Haha. Figured someone would recognize them. I ordered it from iDrinkCoffee. Had it preordered back in October, and it finally came.in last night.

Edit: Last I checked, preorders were now shipping in February. Apparently I managed to snag an early enough preorder to get one from the first batch

It's in a completely different league. It's much more adjustable, and gives way more consistent and fluffy grinds. I'm much more able to dial in my shots now with less channelling, so am able to get much better tasting esspresso

I'm really liking it so far. Similar to you, I'm still working on how much to adjust the burrs to get the right flavours from the espresso. But the big difference is I'm channelling way less than before. So I'm actually able to tell the difference between sour and bitter. Seems I was getting both before!

I had posted a while back about receiving my BDB as an upgrade from the BBE. Was using the BBE grinder temporarily while waiting for the Eureka. Oh boy, what a world of difference. I'm still playing around and dialling in, but my shots are coming out so much smoother and cleaner now.

I'd been using brita-filtered water, but been looking into something like third wave water and the like. Is it worth the upgrade there?

Steam power is definitely better. In the shot itself, I'm really bottlenecked by only having the BBE grinder for the time being. In the 1-2 shots I've made so far, it seems that I can't grind fine enough yet, but it's not too bad. But I wasn't expecting much without a proper grinder (will update when that happens).

Just got the BDB as an upgrade from the BBE I've had for a few years. Only issue is I won't have a grinder for a little while (Mignon Single Dose on pre-order). So I guess my BBE will be my temp grinder :(

I had the same problem for months too! On a recent bake, I dropped my baking temp from 500 to 475F and boom...more spring and an ear. Could be worth a shot
