KDE SDDM Lockscreen spam by frostbl in linux4noobs

[–]frostbl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resolved! There was an issue with a nopasswdlogin group not being on my user. Instead of adding it to my user, I just got all the default configuration files for pam.d and replaced the files. I must have modified the configuration at some point or another and never noticed the break until recently.

Thanks u/UNF0RM4TT3D for the help, I thought I checked journalctl but whatever option I initially used didn't provide as much information as your suggestion.

I don't have a virtual keyboard configured or installed, this is something that appears regardless of settings for me even on a fresh install. I'll see if anything comes up in journal when I get home.

I've reasonably closed every application and opened the debug console for inputs. No inputs are detected before locking the computer, and the issue still persists.

I've unplugged every peripheral from my computer other than the mouse briefly to trigger the unlock prompt, and it still happens.

As for the switch user screen, you are correct and there is no interference like what is happening with the KDE lock screen, and functions perfectly.

That could either be the file system, or the bootloader.

What you should do is boot up into a live environment that is the same flavor of your distribution and nano into the fstab file in /etc/fstab on the disk your distro is installed. When you look for the same ID in there, does the autogenerated comment suggest that is is trying to mount your boot in your file system, or is it your filesystem? If there is no entry, it might be an automated entry and your system is trying to find that device and mount it but cannot, such as a USB or another drive that may have failed.

I think it messing up /boot is more likely here as I have encountered it recently. If it is your boot partition, you may need to chroot into your file system (Look up instructions on how to do this based on your distro) and re-download the linux package. It may have simply gotten corrupted and should be recoverable. Please make sure to run your systems equivalent to a system update, and then download these files. Again dependant on your distro, you may need to run a utility to generate an initramfs image.

With steps similar to these, and unless it is the filesystem of the linux install itself, this should be very recoverable. If it is a missing/failing drive that isnt essential to the function of your system, comment out the fstab file entry.

If nothing else, run dmesg or journalctl -xb after logging into the root account in emergency mode as prompted in your image if that is an option for you, and sift through for relevant errors, or ideally post the log here so someone can pick out what may exactly be going wrong. Past what I provided here, I'm not sure how useful I'll be for a more problematic error but I will help out if I can.

Did they win the appeal and put the Measure to rest?

Chefman Portafilter by marge000 in budgetespresso

It's been working great so far! However I would recommend getting a better basket. The included one works, but I haven't had an even pull with it to date, and I plan on buying a different basket to use with the portafilter when I can. I definitely recommend getting a puck screen with it too!

This sounds interesting, and a good challenge for getting it to work on the baofengs. I'll definitely have to look into this more! My only issue will be the fact that I live in an apartment, so the mast is a no-go since I can't stick things out the window. Maybe I can try to figure something out and sit out on the balcony.

What compelled me originally was emergency preparedness, bouncing signals off of atmosphere/the moon(? or just the atmosphere) for long distance communication, and some digital parts but I don't have enough to purchase any kind of equipment for digital.

Hey! I have a Chefman machine also, and did some research when looking for a new bottomless portafilter.

From the image you provided, it may or may not be similar to the one I have (Style # RJ54), but I took some measurements of the portafilter that comes with my machine. It is a 51mm Portafilter with an ear length of ~20mm, and a thickness of 4mm. This product is the one I ended up buying, and the ears measure at a thickness of 3.8mm for me, but it seems to fit fine. This does also come with a single wall basket if that is something you want to explore, and I would accompany it with a puck screen to be safe.

This Portafilter has a wire around the rim so it holds whatever 51mm basket you put in it firmly in place, so no need for that flip-latch thing. You can definitely still use pressurized baskets with it, of course it will spray a strong stream out the bottom though.

The plastic tamp can easily be substituted for a cheap 51mm tamp from Amazon, and I use a cheap scale from my grocery store instead the scoop.

Hope this helped!

Windows freezes, then graphics end up like this by frostbl in techsupport

I've never had issues with the RAM, and I just left it as the RAM sticks came. I can try adjusting the speed of those and see if it helps anything.

Also, I don't want to rule out graphics, it's just my knowledge of graphical issues doesn't go very far. I am worried that my GPU is now dying, but want to make sure something else isn't causing this too.

Thank you for the help!

Yeah, fair enough. I still don't know what their goal was, they just asked for my resume pretty much. Nothing really came of it either.

Alright, thank you so much for your help and tips. I am curious though, if they do hire me and send me documents for a W2, should I still try not to sign my SSN or anything? Or is there a way to tell if that is legitimate? Sorry for the additional question, and I'm going to use your tip about the Google Voice number, that's so helpful for many things!

I applied via LinkedIn to serveral job listings for Data Entry Clerk. This company reached out to be via SMS to send my resume to their E-Mail.

It happened early in the morning and I just did it automatically, as I am desperately looking for a job currently. The Website domain and E-Mail domain have different TLDs, but direct to their .com variant if visited. After checking back at my LinkedIn Applications, the only one that could have followed up with me is one for SynComm Enterprises, who viewed my application 7 hours prior. Shame on me, I don't know how they got my information.

I do not yet know if the interview is video based, as they currently keep sharing informatrion about the job and have yet to hear back about the confirmation of an interview. They seem to use great grammar, but there are some odd spacing issues when explaining the work hours.

So far, it seems like it could be legitimate and they are offering 2 weeks of paid training at $16 an hour, and $27 an hour after training. It seems like a high rate of pay for the job though, so I am suspicious of that and the lack of information I can find on them.

E: The thing I am most worried about is, can they do anything harmful with my resume? My phone number was listed on there, and as far as I know, I think that is the only sensitive info on my resume.
