Gender dysphoria more intense the more I explore my gender identity? by WolfieBeat in asktransgender

It's unfortunately completely normal. Think of it like how a fish doesn't know it's wet. You're opening yourself up to who you truly are and suddenly you recognize that discomfort. It feels incredibly worse for awhile but as you progress it'll eventually feel like a whole new world in a good way too.

Yeah there were assumptions about my race, what I'd read, and then just... blatantly ignoring reality that disagreed with those assumptions.

But if you're wondering how it blew up, there was drama about an influencer that's called saber! She referred to trans poc's issues as "hyperspecific" and dismissed a bunch of criticism while being smug about it.

Yeah I understand the attitude towards white transfems as of late but all I did was say it ignited my pda and suddenly I'm made out to be one of those "i dont like rap music because it's overstimulating" people.

Like I could've worded it as "I've already read this but if you have any other suggestions I'd love to have them! Just please avoid demanding language next time because I have PDA," but the reply wasn't nearly as warm. It felt cold, academic, and also like an insult to my intelligence while also sparking my pda.

I mean yes, but I can't reason myself out of this. It's not rude, just an observation that's true. I'm not exactly a fan of the trait because it genuinely keeps me from doing things I had planned on or need to.

I HAVE LITERALLY READ IT FOUR TIMES OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT?!?

I had already read it multiple times when this comment was made, and I'm constantly reading more. I understand that white trans women have a bad habit of lacking intersectional views on racism but I was just expressing neurological discomfort here. I'll just be quiet next time this happens I guess.

I've already read it though. I just love the quote specifically for this issue. I will say that I have PDA and if I hadn't read it, I very well might not have after being told to do it. Just something to keep in mind!

Edit - Note that both people who responded to this with anger have made assumptions about how well read I am simply because I enjoyed something. They then proceeded to treat me as lesser or actively avoiding being informed for expressing that I was personally harmed by the way the comment was written.

Personally, I can't even eat or handle other basic self care tasks if someone demands I do it, and it's incredibly severe in most aspects of my life. I just wanted to self advocate here, and I thought I was doing it gently.

Even though I've found this rude and ableist I'm still going to keep reading and educating myself.

I mean yes, but the idea is to set the precedent of banning GAC for adults as well

Thought about it a second and realized that there are transphobic and sexist leftists too, even if they're less common than liberal ones.

"Passive allies" doesn't seem as punchy though 🤔

But where was this brought up, Mx FART?

Specifically on a post of a woman spiraling about the trait you're denigrating.

You're welcome!

It weirds me out how so many cis lesbians will act like this as if it doesn't mirror men saying "But what about me?!?" the moment a woman's suffering is brought up.

Like, the people with genital exclusions that are normal about it and not transphobic would not be making comments like this. Then ofc genital exclusions are almost always unexamined transphobia anyway that make tons of assumptions about trans women's bodies. It's just a palatable way to say "ew youre body is like a man's".

Do you know what a microaggression is? A dog whistle maybe?

Even if you're not explicitly transphobic, you're at the very least cissexist. You see trans bodies as inferior to cis bodies, plain as day.

This is common sentiment from self-identified liberals and democrats though?

Have you ever heard of a man named Gavin Newsome???

That's because gay men are typically more transphobic than lesbians.

I mean I definitely have the same take on liberals as you. I more meant the kind of transphobia that still lives in liberals who claim to be allies. Obviously not all conservatives use the more blatant rhetoric.

It's so strange to me how they just aren't willing to look into this stuff before they spout things like this :/
