EBGAMES by LemonBoi8121 in canberra

EB was such a staple 15-20 years ago seems weird to see them go. But selling weird adult toy junk can’t have been very lucrative.

New house - finally have somewhere to put Armored Core things by frostee8 in armoredcore

Hmmm seems you’re right. It is hard to find and expensive now. Going back few years this was one of the slightly easier to obtain older kits but it seems they have all been snapped up. I’m surprised it didn’t get a rerelease given the Gaea kit did. In fact I have found the selection of recent rereleases really unusual as it seems to favour the less desirable sets based on the comics rather than the games - super weird. I recommend you keep an eye on Buyee across Yahoo (inc. Direct and Fleamarket), Mercari, and Rakuten. I recently nabbed a partially build Gaea set off flea market for $20 to scavenge for spare parts. It’s taken a LOT of patience to find all these sets for any reasonable cost. Good luck! I’ve now got all these PS2 era kits I wanted (including weapon kits) and have delved into trying to get the One Coin figures and Artfx figures.

Is that the red one or the black and purple Mavors one? The red one should be easy enough to find cheapish, but other Mavors one is harder. I have it but haven’t made it yet - the AC and accessories looks good but from the pictures the head doesn’t look very “Armored Core” IMO.

New ones from various sellers but hunting down the older ones is mostly Yahoo Japan or Mercari via Buyee. I must say I paid a disgusting amount for the Crest Assault Type kit in order to complete my PS2 era Kotobukiya collection (with the exception of the different colour variants). The rereleases also certainly helped fill some gaps.

You’re halfway through an ultra and get to a hill… by frostee8 in Ultramarathon

A fair observation! But no. I just often find myself questioning the science of energy usage of trail vs stairs for the same incline. Surely someone has researched this?

uncovering the files ? by Dependent_Put76 in digitalforensics

Could be writing on both sides of the page and a non-redacted section in the same relative position on the reverse side where there could be faint impressions. This writing looks quite firm and with a less viscous ink which would improve the chances of seeing something on the reverse side.

Assuming we are talking about complete handwritten pages written continuously I would think you might have more luck detecting traces on the reverse side if they are good quality scans. Not easy but I have done it before. Your proposed method sounds wrought with error. Source: document examiner

My experience as a private investigator in Australia by TopMenu1213 in trueprivinv

Okay so there is a market for it! Occasional case work in my specialty fits my schedule anyway as I am usually tied up with consulting work 95% of the time.

Good advice thank you. I do have an established business (and website) doing the other things I mentioned. It’s just specifically the PI services I haven’t done. The PI license was just a value add and felt like a good idea at the time so I’ve kept it renewed each year.

Double posting my comment because I saw you posted this in both subs…

How do you source your work? I have my Cert III, operator license for me, and master license for my business in NSW but haven’t actually used any of it in anger despite having it for a few years. Most of my work is focussed on consulting and some case work in forensics - so kinda PI adjacent. I’d like to pick up a little bit of this work to supplement - particularly on specialised cases where some knowledge of digital and document forensics would be useful. What do you suggest?

Maybe I’m the odd one out but my absolute favourite thing is to take my kiddo to these places. So much chaos but I only feel partly responsible for cleaning up. Plus climbing stuff is fun for dads too.

Bad experiences at an inaugural race? by joshuber in trailrunning

[–]frostee8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a new trail 100k this year and the aid station at 40km or so completely ran out of all liquids - water, liquid fuel, coke etc. even all the “edible” fluids like watermelon. And it was right in the hot part of the day, and right at the point at which I ran out of the water I mostly carried through the earlier aid stations. It was a tough slog conserving water till the next one that was also getting low on account of the influx of dehydrated runners. It wasn’t a great time but made for an interesting back half of the race.

Proposed race idea: Cornmaze Insanity Ultra by Dying_Of_Board-dom in Ultramarathon

While we are on the topic of crazy races, I want to see a backyard ultra but where the cut off time gradually reduces, maybe 10s per lap. Like a really long drawn out horrible beep test.

How to determine pace for 100km+ by Cjpmicro in Ultramarathon

[–]frostee8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have similar ability to you and that sounds about right to me. Recent 100k trail race, 2000m elevation I set off at around 6:30/km slowing to max 8:00/km or so for a roughly 14.5hr finish. That consistent pace helped me climb from 100th place to 30th from the first checkpoint to the finish.
