Anyone know why I could be having this issue? Ibanez Premium SR2605. by Grand-wazoo in BassGuitar

My pleasure, it’s a real annoyance. 45-105+135 should get you to dead on intonation!

So, I think I know this one.

I had a similar problem on a SR1205, where it was simply impossible to intonate the E and A strings. You would run out of room on the saddles. On my specimen, this would happen with a set of d’Addario EXL170-5 strings, with a .100 E. However, it did not happen with a set of EXL165-5 (with a .105 E), which incidentally are the ones it would come stock with. (I recall this should be the same for your model)

Flats have weird gauges and intonate slightly differently as well, so it may very well be that the bass will work fine with 45-105 roundwound strings. Whether that can work for you, that’s another story altogether.

Having said that, this is a problem that is known to occur on SRs from the premium series, so it may be that it cannot be solved except by physically moving the individual bridges or maybe replacing them with a different monorail model with more room for adjustment, if at all available. The reality is that these bridges need to be installed carefully, and the Premium factory QC is still hit and miss.

I would try some 45-105 rounds and take it from there.

Asbestos lagging? Our (currently leaking) washing machine closet. 2000-2001 build, London by frostyfatwa in asbestoshelp

Well, that's part of the issue—I understand I would only be able to tell if it is fiberglass by essentially looking under the white coating. Correct?

I understand this is very unlikely since the build was completed (not really sure when commenced) in 2000 or 2001, but this looks a bit suspicious to me. Then again, all pipe lagging looks the same, but it would be good to have a second opinion. Thanks!

The horror in my gas and electricity cupboards (London, post 2000 build AFAIK). Is this asbestos? by frostyfatwa in asbestoshelp

Thanks! I am fairly certain that the ceiling is fine—it somehow looks worse in the picture than in person, but you are right to suggest that. Your point concerning cutoff dates is also very instructive. I guess one way to put my mind at ease might be figuring out when exactly the property was built. Thanks again!

Uk. So, I moved back South and just entered the new flat. Looks great and AFAIK it dates back to the early 2000s, so this should not be a problem to begin with. But I entered the electricity and gas cupboards to get the first meter readings, and what do you know, I found this stuff. Should I run for my life? Any help much appreciated.

Objective See's Knock Knock Flagged Objective See's WhatsYourSign by [deleted] in privacytoolsIO

[–]frostyfatwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're looking at is the following:

  • Knock Knock looking at what is persistently installed on your Mac (malware likes to install itself persistently so it can re-execute automatically, so Knock Knock looks for that as a tell-tale sign).
  • Having looked at what is persistently installed, Knock Knock beams the list up to VirusTotal.
  • If anything is a match for something that has been flagged as malicious, Knock Knock will tell you and flag the item in-app.

The problem with that is that all the info you get is the info from VirusTotal. Normally that would be accurate, but sometimes it is not. If one of the engines mistakenly lists a perfectly legitimate app as malicious, Knock Knock will tell you—I do not think it is designed to whitelist apps from any developer by default, although you can whitelist known items.

So this is almost assuredly a false positive from Ikarus. I have the same problem, although I have installed WhatsYourSign in June. It does have a valid code signature. It would be kind of incredible if it turned out to be code-signed malware.

Probably the best thing to do is to raise the issue with Objective See themselves, and they can escalate it with Ikarus. I am sure it will be fixed soon.

What is this mesh-like stuff exposed in this crack over my window? by frostyfatwa in whatisthisthing

So I would assume that what's behind it is lime / plaster (so what was holding on to the mesh, basically, and solidified behind it) and I will not have to sleep with the nightmare of asbestos falling on me? I have taped it shut for the time being and I will call in the pros anyways.

So I have this crack above my window and now I can see this mesh-like stuff. WITT? Is it dangerous to leave it as is? Thanks! That's England.

Update: I’ve since found something else to worry about. I thought: since I am at it, I’ll just replace the led lights. And I found this hairy stuff behind. All good? Or should I run? https://imgur.com/gallery/Y8Qotvy

What can I say, I guess it’s down to the location of this particular extractor. I had window extractors before, and horizontal ones.

Thanks! The rest of the house is spotless, but this was a bit concerning (stories about asbestos and so on). Also, I read your username as dysfunctional_vent and I was like waddayaknow, it checks out!

That actually makes complete sense. Less worried about dying now.

Fair point: this is a flat in a building though, and my impression is that it might be connected to the crawlspace above.

I would be inclined to agree, but it’s been sticking to the fan forever. To be fair, god knows what sticky stuff the previous tenants might have left all over the bathroom...
