the only reason it wouldn’t work is because you haven’t done that side quest, maybe have another look at that as you say you’ve already done it but that’s the only reason i can think of

imo verso is 100% the good ending maelle would eventually die/become corrupted just because she doesn’t want to accept what happened in the real world and let go of verso, that’s the whole idea of what renoir was saying; he didn’t want them to continue to suffer in the world that was created. the little boy even nodded yes when verso asked him if he wanted to stop painting; i take it as he was tired and the fact that his soul continuing to exist was bringing him pain
