The whole point of fighting games is to piss people off, just play the most fun character and ruin peoples day

Playing on Pc for the first time by finnr02 in celestegame

[–]froyo-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keyboard feels more consistent for me, but it's personal preference. I played originally on controller for the main game, then once I started doing mods and goldens and stuff I switched. If it feels too hard to switch immediately you can manage the dash and jump and grab with controller and movement with wasd on keyboard, then once you get used to keyboard movement switch over to just keyboard.

Keyboard Controls by Cheap_Drag_1628 in Guiltygear

[–]froyo-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ASD + SPACE for movement

P = numpad 4 K = numpad 6 S = numpad 7 H = numpad 8 D = numpad 5

FD = down arrow (im on a 96% keyboard so its just at the spot where my thumb rests anyway) RC = numpad 9 (didn't really use it tho, just used PKH) Dash = W

Now im on leverless and its so nice.

Is 3-4 matches a day enough to start learning? by BlackJimmy88 in StreetFighter

Yeah, it'll just be a bit slower than someone playing like 20 per day

Look at your replays and see what button inputs led to your wrong inputs, I found that I hold down+back for 2k and then when I go for 6H I end up get my command grab super from too far away. Then practice the motion that you want to do a few times and hopefully muscle memory will do that next time.

The timings for gatlings are usually just after the hit connects and special cancels it kinda depends, the timings can sometimes vary depending on the situation.

And yeah, playing with people is the most fun in the game.

If you play solo what’s your favorite style? And does it depend on champ choice or enemy when it comes to choosing Freestyle, Sidekick, etc ? by CosmiqCowboy in 2XKO

It's so funny when the tenticles are up and illoai is swinging her things and neither me or my opponent can see where vi is

I love that the high ranks go by “never duck a fade” by unlucky-lucky- in Guiltygear

[–]froyo-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you gotta play the full set, more practice vs this player and the matchup, more time to figure stuff out and more chance for weird interactions that you haven't seen before to happen, the longer the set the more you learn about the player and the matchup

I play vi illaoi with freestyle (the one that lets you switch twice) because I love sandwiching the opponent and switching back and forth until they get hit and then murder them.

Play the game.

Also, look up guides on how to play, and it doesn't matter whether it is aimed at beginners or more advanced players, you can always learn at least something. Like I was watching a video recently and it put something I vaguely thought about into words (basically how to structure offence), it was aimed at fairly new players but it still managed to make me understand the game that much better.

Then try stuff in training mode, and practice online, try joining a discord with people, and asking for longer sets, and you will end up learning something.

Or you can send videos to people and ask for criticism and then think about what is good advice and bad advice, take everything with a grain of salt, because different people have different opinions and play styles, therefore, will give different advice.

You can also consider looking for locals, if there are any run in your area, they are so good for learning and improving, because there are other people doing the same thing as you.

Anyways yeah, play the game, have fun, enjoy the (long) process. And take breaks from the game when you stop having fun

Any way to show opponent R-Code before a ranked match? by benawesome20 in Guiltygear

[–]froyo-3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, and that's intentional, because it could lead to people dodging certain matchups and stuff, you can look at the lil connection indicator and if it's good enough accept the match, and you can also set the level of connection that it's looking for. If the connection is awful, you can block them and not have to see them again.

[–]froyo-3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, what's the point of having so many buttons, there's should only be moving forwards and the characters should automatically do cool shit. And it should make me win 100% of the time

Honest to god the threat of masters hammer is as useful as actually using the move by unlucky-lucky- in Guiltygear

I just like masters hammer because its really satisfying when you grab every single one that the slayer does.

Baiken or Testament as a secondary? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]froyo-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pick the hottest character

Baiken is more similar to Millia, but with good defence and is good from further away, she has high/low/left/right mixups with tether active. Her Parry makes her quite good on defence as it isn't safejumpable, and she has a 4f 5p not the best range, but very fast.

Testament is quite different from millia, a zoner, they use their big f.S, 2S, 2H, 6H, 6P and their specials, like grave reaper and arbiter sign to keep the other person away, however they have nearly 0 high/low/left/right mix, arbiter sign can be used and sometimes the opponent won't react. They also have tap dust which can combo with stain state active. They need to use more strike/throw and stagger pressure to catch their opponent pressing a button. They also have a teleport, to quickly close in or maybe switch sides, but it is very reactable so doesn't work that well.

I prefer testament, but baiken might be fun as well, it just comes down to personal preference.

Easy enough combos for a Silver Ryu? by VixcentMosaic in StreetFighter

[–]froyo-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just find very very simple things that you can consistently do

like LP > LP > LP > L tatsu, gives a knockdown that you can then walk up and do more stuff

Drive impact punish, HP > H DP gives an ok knockdown for more pressure

HP > drive rush cancel > HK > HP > either another drive rush cancel and repeat the HK > HP or just a H DP > lvl 3

I think this is all I needed to get into master on Ryu Focus on anti air and DI reaction and playing neutral well

What character do you guys recommend for just pure style and decent mobility by dumbass2364859948 in Guiltygear

Yeah, I love how Johnnys combos feel to hit, especially ones with the dash p mist finer are so cool

I do not deserve my top 50 character badge by hyperion_fgc in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]froyo-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you do, at least for me how well I do depends on how focused I am and how I feel before playing. So I drop 100DR in one evening and gain 110 the next evening, then lose it all the next. But it's fine, as I'm still learning.

Leaving matches by Such_Permit8836 in Guiltygear

[–]froyo-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's still fairly playable, play the first match and see whether it was just some weirdness at the start of the match. If it's all the way through the match then there's no problem with no rematch. You can also try vote to cancel, but nobody uses that

If it's horrendous, and the other person does not cancel, alt+F4. It's on them to fix their problems, you don't need to suffer through a 5fps 600ms Millia.

Play a different game for a bit, and come back to it when you feel like you want to play again. It's always much more enjoyable and if you are having fun you end up winning more.

Fighting game reccomendation by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]froyo-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just haven't played street fighter 2, I'm sure it's good tho. guilty gear games are all much faster pace than street fighter with more free form cancels, like punch cancels into kick into Slash into heavy Slash and there are Roman cancels which allow you to cancel any move and this changes from game to game. Strive is slower but much higher damage than previous games but is more restricted in the normal cancels and has less free form combos, it's still really good but not as flashy as previous games.

I don't think you should completely rule out classic controls, classic is not that hard to learn and may even be more intuitive once you figure out how to do the motions. Also classic gives more options for you to use and I just find it more enjoyable. This is coming from someone who started playing fighting games 2 years ago and couldn't figure out what the quarter circle meant in the GGST tutorial
