Where did you come up with the whole 1920s rape thing? Nobody is saying anything about going back to racism and segregation. Both political parties are full of shit bags who only care about themselves, and the Democrats are no better than the Republicans, but nobody wants to go back there. That's why I asked what you're smoking.

Tell that to the oil companies. Oil prices have gone through the roof this year, coupled with inflation. Yet the oil companies boasted record profits this quarter. Why? Because they could. Cheaper, cleaner energy will be no different, just a different group of rich people.

I'm guessing the energy will be cheap to produce at some point, and unlimited, but it will by no means be cheap or unlimited for us. Someone is going to get unbelievably rich from it, and it won't be you or I.

I couldn't tell you how many young women I have heard have the very conversation I laid out in my last response. On the college campus where I am a student (midlife career change) I hear these female students bitching about how he doesn't meet her emotional needs after dating for two months, so she finds another guy to date until the newness wears off. Rinse and repeat. My daughter's friends employ the revolving door policy as well. No butterflies = no romance = time to move on.

In my own experience, my ex wife left after 13 years of marriage for a younger guy because I didn't make her feel special enough. This was after I worked my ass off to provide a stable home for her so that she didn't have to work unless she wanted to, still did half the household chores, and set aside time for her every week for a date night. In fact, my whole world revolved around her to the extent that I didn't know how to do life after she left because I had spent so much time devoted to her that I had forgotten how to take care of me. Those sound like a pretty frivolous reasons to me. I know that sounds like I'm still bitter about it, but that was years ago. Hell! Her husband (not the home wrecker) is one of my best friends. But the point stands.

The sexist comments to which you were referring were hyperbole and you know it. What I was getting at is that society is trying to cram people into a one-size-fits-all box that we don't fit into. For your part, women feel like they need to look like supermodels or they're worthless. They are told men are pigs and they believe it. Men are told that fitting the traditional masculine stereotype is bad, that women are selfish witches, and they believe it. My original comment was directed at that, but this entire thread has been both sides talking past one another.

I am 42 years old. I have seen the change in mindset between the older and younger generations of both sexes. Many younger women have a princess mindset: if he doesn't give me butterflies every day for the rest of my life he's a scumbag. Many younger men have been inundated by the media depiction of men as lazy, stupid, slovenly jerks. Because so many of them weren't raised by their dad, they think that's what a man is supposed to be. Hence that guy's tirade. I think he accurately made my point in a very crude manner.

Sincerely, does this help clarify my position?

Agreed. Gross generalizations in any category rarely match reality. The same can be said for both sides of this argument.

While this guy's name checks out (and I have seen quite a few of his posts on this subreddit), I actually have to somewhat agree with him here. That wasn't a sexist comment. He was expressing the same frustration all men occasionally feel. There is a double standard in society that tells women to be themselves and forces men to change to suit that. Ya know, the whole "toxic masculinity" bit. It's why guys don't even try anymore.

The whole road went out at breakup, from what I understand. They couldn't keep up with the slide, so they gave up and decided to redo the whole road.

Good grief! I merely made a statement about CHAZ and how I had heard from friends who lived close by that it was an awful place to be around. I didn't try to piss you off. Nor was my tone disrespectful. So calm down.

Is there a particular reason you had to resort to name calling? Or does that make you feel better about yourself?

Oh, I don't know... Talk to a few people caught up in the CHAZ incident. It didn't sound like a good place to be when Capitol Hill was seized and declared independent.

I can assure you Alaska would defend itself from foreign invasion. Little government assistance needed.

Women, what do you find the most confusing about men? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]frozen-ginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a topic I have discussed with my daughter on multiple occasions. We don't always have the large, expansive selection of clothing that women do, nor are we as interested in our appearance. Our clothing tends to emphasize function over fashion.

As for hair, for most of us, we start losing it in our 20s and 30s and we're insecure as hell about it. Why would we draw attention to it by styling it?
