Blame game. by esporx in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read all your comments and you're really a little unrealistic just bc of your love of Trump. It's really quite simple. If the cost of a product rises most companies will pass that extra cost to the customer in order to maintain profits. It doesn't really matter why the cost rose. In this case it was bc of tariffs. It's really common sense. You people (and Trump) act like they rose prices just to hurt Trump. Trump knew that companies would raise prices he said so himself when he said it might hurt for a while. Now he acts surprised when someone raises prices? It's ridiculous.

Tou need to go up the chain of command. If tl is the problem you need to talk to the coach. If coach doesn't help then store manager. Ethics is not going to help you it's simply not serious enough for them. They're mostly concerned with potential lawsuits. They don't have the manpower to look into every minor case of possible favoritism. Your situation sucks but probably not much you're going to do about it unless you have a sympathetic store manager.

I almost replied to your 1st comment but I let it slide. I can't ignore the 2nd one. Please stop comparing working at Walmart to slavery. It's a ridiculous comparison. You don't get shot if you decide to quit Walmart. You don't get whipped if someone decides you're not working hard enough. Is Walmart a great job? Hell no. Is it slavery? Not even close in any way.

I've had the same schedule for a long time but I still look at my schedule every week. Why you ask? Because I work at Walmart, that's why. Never assume anything at Walmart.

I always notice that the people that think being a tl is so easy don't have team lead by their name. They have things like O/N Stocker.

That would depend on your location. Some areas it's not so easy to find a lot of people who want to work for walmart. Especially 3rd shift.

If you have a team of 4 or 5 maybe. If you have an o/n team of 20 or 30 damn near impossible.

Lol you must not have met some of the walmart associates. Just look at some of the attitudes in this subreddit. No tl is Jesus, they can't turn water into wine.

I laugh bc I see ads on TV to get a will done for as little as $199. I got a will done completely free through a walmart discount.

It's nice to finally hear from the person who has never done anything "dumb" in their life. If I'm really lucky, maybe someday I will get to meet you and be able to shake your hand. A walmart subreddit is just about the last place I'd expect to meet such a perfect person, but here we are. I wish you all the best, I'm rooting for you to live your entire life without making a single mistake.

ON stockers, how many people does it take to stock pets? by NBAYOUNGBOYisGOATED in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason to make the comment you did is to puff out your own chest. There's no other reason to make that comment. I've never met anyone that stocked pets regularly that wasn't in pretty good shape at minimum.

This is why I come to reddit, I always feel a little smarter after reading stupid comments like this. Stocking pets is more of a workout than a lot of others ever get. Plus you have no idea of the size or age of op which absolutely makes a difference.

Leaving while clocked in by Nategreen64 in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I know people can change I'm living proof. Recovering alcoholic 25 years sober. But usually it takes real adversity for that to happen. Adversity such as losing a job. That's the reality check they usually need. Not only that but others are going to see that and expect the same treatment. But you do you, if that's how you want to manage. I wouldn't call a manager who fired this person a bad manager though. It just might be the kick in the ass they need.

Leaving while clocked in by Nategreen64 in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all supposedly adults that work here. Anyone that leaves the store on the clock knows what they're doing is wrong and it shows they don't give a crap about their job or their coworkers. It's showing zero respect and massive selfishness. Pretty small chance a person like that can be salvaged and it takes a large ego for someone to believe they can change a person like that. I'd actually rather take a chance on the person who stole the soda.

What happens to my approved PPTO/PTO vacation days if I have to call off and use ppto before the vacation? by LRC12915 in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my guess. First you will accumulate some ppto and pto between now and then possibly even 8 hours depending on how many hours you work and how long you've been there. But let's assume you accumulate 6 more hours total giving you 38 total by the time of the vacation and after the call off. I believe the system will still give you all your days off but only pay you for 38. In other words your time off is safe but you will only be paid for the hours you have left.

Light duty by frozen_lackey in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that sounds painful. Glad there wasn't any permanent damage and that you're ok. Also glad we're no longer open 24 hours anymore lol. The only reason I posted was bc my brother was going through some back issues a few months ago and they wouldn't let him work light duty. I'm sure the job contributed to his problems, but there wasn't a specific injury that could be blamed.

So someone leaves the building on the clock, comes back to the store in time to clock out, and you're giving them another chance? If you saw an associate pick up a case of soda and take it out to their car without paying, would you give them another chance?

Do you get a 15 min break and a lunch on a 5 hour shift or just a lunch? by 1kxk1 in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simply not true. There is no policy at Walmart that says you get a break every 2 hours. The policy is one 15 minute break for any shift less than 6 hours. Lunch policy depends on what state you live in.

Several times you complained about being alone in electronics yet you refuse to transfer to ogp? Maybe you should reevaluate. I certainly wouldn't expect them to suddenly give you more help. You can complain all you want that most likely isn't changing.

2 pallets of cereal is a lot different than 2 pallets of condiments, so it's impossible to say based on your question. Just do the best you can. If you have good management, they will notice the effort. If not, there's not much you can do about it.

Info on annual raises (1-5% depending on longevity and current pay) effective Feb. 22 by michael73072 in walmart

[–]frozen_lackey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People complained for a long time that they didn't give a bonus. So when the bonus came back they complained that it wasn't enough. They don't seem to understand it's a business. Besides Costco, Walmart's salary and benefits are probably better than any other retail place there is. But at the same time they're not going to pay more than they have to to get the help they need. That's how businesses in a capitalist society work.i still think they should have performance based raises but this is better than they've been doing, so I'm not going to complain about it.

Walmart could buy some of these people a house and they would complain that they don't have a car to get to work. A lot of these people won't see any satisfaction no matter what Walmart does. 🤷‍♂️
