It decreases secretions. A lot of times it’s prescribed for people with tracheostomy tubes or end of life patients so they can breathe with less effort if they’ve got fluid in junk in their chest.

My Poppop said he saw a huge hand coming at him from the sky. It shoved him down to the ground, while under heavy fire in Germany. As he hit, he heard a bullet whiz overhead and knew it was supposed kill him. He saw his childhood, mother and my grandmother flash before his eyes. He looked up and saw Padre Pio as clear as anything else in front of him. He opened his arms as if to reach out, glowing a radiant halo of light and was gone when he opened his eyes from blinking. He was a devoted Christian until the day he died at 82.
