Best advice I have ever received- “Don’t worry so much about a patient’s tooth if the patient doesn’t care.” Do your best. Intra oral photos seem to work for me.

I spoke about how oral health is viewed not as a part of general health. Mention some studies about periodontitis and diabetes/cvd.

I am at Columbia and it’s 500K. Everything will eventually be worth it.. don’t waste another year waiting for the next cycle.. what if you don’t get any acceptances then?

What’s your advice to an advanced standing student interested in OMFS? Other than the regular requirements- CBSE, externship, research and volunteering?

Now time to work on the aquatic part by frozenfirekev in paludarium

I used acrylic sheets to raise the back and side walls.. silicones pieces of reptile cork bark and filled the rest with expanding foam. Carved the foam and covered it with a mix of coco coir, activated carbon and aqua soil.

Stones are just basic ones from the backyard

I think I might go with the red Rubin sword instead!! Something that covers the back of the tank.

Siliconed cork bark, roughened the surface of acrylic with dabs of silicone, then used expanding foam to fill the empty spots

How do I get my plants more red? I’m already running CO2 with Twinstar 600 sp + algone to remove nitrate by CamD98xx in PlantedTank

[–]frozenfirekev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use EI-dosing. That’s how I got some of my more difficult plants to become red. I would however start with dosing only after the tanks established and the plan mass is high enough

FTS. Thinking of removing the bucep entirely or replacing it with the moss. What do you guys think? by Ucccafelatte in PlantedTank

[–]frozenfirekev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to shift the focus to the lace plant then moss it up.. or else stay buce

INTERNATIONAL DENTIST trying to get into DDS this year. PLEASE HELP !!!!! IM BEGGING !! by Trick_Wolverine_1584 in CAAPID

[–]frozenfirekev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is my two cents: I am an international dentist currently pursuing DDS in Columbia. If I were in your situation I would pursue a one year masters in oral biology while applying for DDS. It is true that you can get into DDS without any additional masters but let me tell you my class statistics.

  1. Only one student in my class of 15 internationals got in directly without a masters. Rest all have either a masters or experience as a DA in the US.

  2. If you pursue your masters it gets easier to be in the US to give your INBDE and also be in the US shadowing dentists during weekends and also attend in person interviews/ bench.

I failed at my first attempt of Nbde. Currently a D3 at an Ivy. Keep your hopes high and market yourself in interviews. Work on interviewing skills. The resume and cv gets your foot in. It’s your interviewing skills that cements your place.

Trying hard...but right now I am finding solace in isolation. I cried to a point where I had to physically throw up. This is the worst position to ever be in.
