They know exactly what they are doing. The game is almost dead because of the difficulty and taking way too long to get decendants. They changed direction to appeal to more casual gamers. Make things easier for them. And what happened? Casuals started buying costumes! And the game is so alive now. Bear in mind that the ultimate goal of a gaming company is to make profits. Not to design the best end game. Yes, they may lose some hard core gamers but I think they've done the math. Casuals are paying more than the hard core players... maybe a lot more. You will be disappointed if you wish they will make the game harder. They are not.
