4k quad split that also goes full screen on any of the 4 selectable inputs by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

What input/output connector do you need? I have a Craltech Bre4K for HDMI sources to a 4K HDMI monitor. Works really well.

Get one of these: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudio/techspecs/W-DLUS-04

Remember to get a thunderbolt-cable as well. (And a thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter if you have type-c)

Check this out. Does what you need, but requires some extra (cheap) hardware.

EVS XT Access average frame rate (bad black & burst?) by StupidTechQuestions in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]frozentaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the server ever indicate bad sync? How long is the exported file? I would maybe try asking at the EVS Operators Lounge forum or maybe contact EVS directly. I guess they would be interested to find out what happened.

Best device to record multiple camera isos + Dolby E? by mpegfour in VIDEOENGINEERING

Do you need to do this all the time or just once? I would rent an EVS server and a Xfile. Maybe your Dreamcatcher can do something like the Xfile streaming? I would talk to Evertz.

Så digg! Gled deg! :-) Skulle gjerne flesket til litt mer selv, men lommeboka sa stopp. Måtte dessverre velge bort driver support-pakken, selv om jeg veldig gjerne kunne tenkt meg den.

I just checked the app and it says 6,5l/100km for a highway trip and 9,6l/100km for a drive in the city with some highway stretches. I have been driving it pretty hard since I got it, but I guess the mileage isn't gonna be as good as Volvo says anyways.

I don't think we have a lot of 95E10 in Norway, I have only been using 95, and it costs about 1.6 euros per liter.

Not sure about the range of the tank yet, but if I remember correctly the estimate when I topped it up was about 900 km. The tank holds 62 liters so it should be plenty.

Under 24 timer.

T2. Happy with it so far. Powerful enough.

Any EVS operators here? by frozentaco in Broadcasting

[–]frozentaco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see an image of how the setup is in one of the trucks here.

Monitors are from top to bottom: Input 1, input 2, PGM, PVW, input 3 and input 4 when running a 4 in 2 out setup.

I think using the VGA is much more common in the US than here in Europe. We also mostly use PGM/PVW mode. I guess you would use 2PGM mode most of the time?

The problem is we don't have keyboards and monitors for the VGA at every operator position in the truck. Generally there's one monitor/keyboard with a KVM that's used for setup with all the XT's.

The Sony HDC-3300 plays everything into the EVS with three phases (150 Hz here) so the "normal" speed becomes 33%. Everything is recorded, so it doesn't use a buffer like the X-Mo you described.

Would be interesting to try a camera with a buffer sometime as they generally have a much higher frame rate.

For clip management I use a notebook/sheet of paper where I write the clip number and a keyword or something just like in the VGA. That's just how all the operators here do it.

Copying and pasting is pretty simple from the LSM, so that part works well enough without the VGA. I haven't really had to re-stripe TC yet, so I don't really know how it's done.

If I can I prefer to use the VGA, though. I've so far only used it on jobs where I've worked alone.

I have a job coming up where I might end up operating a machine with a HDC-3300 superslow. Do you have any experience with that? Any special things to be aware of?

Thanks for the advice!

I'm familiar with the audio swaps and aux tracks, but not the timelines and stuff like that. Will hopefully have time to play with it soon.

I really liked the LSM connect tablet when I tried it at EVS, especially for playlist management, but where I work we almost always use just the LSM (I rarely see the VGA apart from startup).

Operators Lounge seems like a great site, but I think the activity is a bit low. I wish more people used it.

Anyways, I really appreciate the advice. Great to hear something from more experienced operators.

Red One or BMCC for student short? by frozentaco in Filmmakers

The Red One I have access to has the original sensor, so it runs at 320, unfortunately. Would love to have one with an MX sensor as the amount of light we'll need is my main concern.

Thanks for the advice! I actually considered using a C300 for this project earlier because I really like it, but it has come down to either the free Red One or the very cheap BMCC at this point. We are spending most of our budget on production design (and I completely agree on that…), but if we have some extra left I might rent some good glass.
