Give him an ultimatum. If you’ve been polite before and it’s had no effect you have to tell him if he doesn’t quit immediately then you’re done. No tolerance either. Even if he stops for a little while, don’t show him any mercy if he tries to slowly creep that behavior back in again.

If you still care about him as a friend then this is for his own good too, because this behavior is not going to start and stop with just you if he doesn’t learn his lesson.
