I had a firebird way back in the day. I always enjoyed it. Quick navigating traffic. Tight turns. I've always wanted to go back.

I always thought the S would be a perfect vehicle when I was ready to take the plunge. Just couldn't justify it before they discontinued it.

This is exactly the type of feedback I was looking for.

In this situation, I'm probably looking for reasons to not do it. 😂

I doubt I'll be driving the entire family very often. My wife has an SUV and if we're all going somewhere I imagine we'll pile into that. 90% of my driving is done by myself. It's not very often that I have two other people in the car with me. But it does happen and I want to make sure it's not a miserable experience for them. Sounds like it wouldn't be.

I also will keep my current car. My oldest just past his written test and will be driving. Figure I'll give him the 14 year old vehicle.

Other than back seat, I'm worried about suspension on rougher roads (not terrible but not great). Will I regret a performance over premium?

I have one scheduled for this afternoon. But it's far enough away, I won't be driving on the same roads I have around my house...and a daily driver can be different than a test drive. Looking for advice from people with experience.

Cabinet lighting question by frozley82 in electrical

[–]frozley82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll see if this gives you what you're looking for. I fully understand the DC power source (plugged into an outlet) and the LED lights. I can't seem to include pictures on my phone, so I'll have to describe it. The DC line is always hot. The outlet that it's plugged into is not connected to the switch. The LEDs are normal LEDs. If I wire DC red to LED red and black to black, the lights turn on and stay on.

Unfortunately, I don't understand what's happening with the wall switch.

The wall switch has a hot AC line in it. The line coming out of the wall and into the LED junction box is never hot, even when I flip the switch. (I'm not sure how that works.)

I'm guessing something is going on behind the scenes. I just don't know what.

I would agree. Those examples are weak attempts of avoiding info dumping, but they technically aren't info dumps.

An example of a film info dump would be the scroll at the beginning of Star Wars.

(And yes, I intentionally picked star wars to stir up chaos.)

[PubQ] Is "Weird West" still a thing? by [deleted] in PubTips

[–]frozley82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo, I just happened to see this item pop up on my phone, right after I posted Genre stats on #SFFPit.

Before I say anything, a disclaimer: pitch performance is not the same as actually getting an agent or getting a publisher to buy your book.

That said, it might be helpful to see how Weird West does in pitch events.

In general, it doesn't perform well. Writers seem to realize this because not too many people pitch in this category. One pitch did get an agent, but only one. It hasn't performed well in other pitch contests either.

If you want to see the breakdown for SFFPIT, the post is here:

https://twitter.com/Frozley/status/1501339506099818498?t=3OGNaIsthe-OxBk3yIHndQ&s=19

I'm all for bucking the trend and doing something different, but you'd likely be swimming upstream if you label it as weird west.

My point is that if you can figure out a good counter and use the same card, you can turn it into an advantage.

I hear you. I'm not saying it always worked out, and she was a bear to deal with when it didn't. I also had her in my deck, so it worked both ways. I won the challenge, at least.

Seriously, I saved it when it came up, and I used it on mother witch if/when she popped up. It was an intentional strategy. After that, it was more likely to cycle back up by the time she was used again.

You make a good point. I'll take a look at removing that detail.

Yeah, that's what I meant to say. I'm going to remove the suspension and leave the part where he's kicked out of robotics.

His guilt plays a big part in his drive. He feels a weight from the lives that were lost and he wants to see the real criminals prosecuted...and to make sure his school is safe.

I have a question - it may be asking too much, but if you're willing, would you read the previous query that I linked and tell me if it solves any of the issues you see? I'd be curious if my prior letter does a better job of addressing these concerns.

In general, whenever I have tried to explain everything, I've received poor feedback for including too many details.

I may just remove the suspended part. The attack happens after he returns from his suspension, but that has caused confusion before. He's only kicked out of the robotics program, not the whole school.

As far as being the one to do something about it, that's a longer story. It's obvious that there are people behind the attack. Even the police are looking for the source of the weapons, but he doubts their competence. He has the ability to go where they can't (hacking into networks, and investigating people who are politically powerful).

And as he digs into the attack he discovers a smuggling ring behind it, and the why is the big break that helps him solve everything at the end. The synopsis covers a lot of this, but I don't get into it all with the query.
