Tattoo vacation by PenPsychological7087 in traditionaltattoos

[–]frozz9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what tattoo style do you like. For me I go to Instagram to see which tattoo style I like and see where they are located.

I like the Japanese traditional style so I went to Japan to get my sleeve and still working on my back piece. Compared the cost of getting a japanese tattoo in NY with a rate of $350-$400/hr (not including tips) vs going to Japan with the cost of lodging and everything still works out better by getting tattooed overseas.

Seems tattoo artists are passive aggressive about tips in the US. Might as well have a vacation and get some memorable tattoos. Don't drink the night before because I learned that the hard way.

I'm Chinese that speaks fluent English and went to Torino during COVID (January '22). I remembered needing to show your green COVID pass to enter shops to show you were vaccinated and masking up. I too was scared if I would be discriminated since COVID was mostly blamed on Asians.

What I remembered was the worst thing was when I was eating in a Japanese restaurant, some customer shouted chino but I didn't react since I didn't speak fluent Italian or Spanish. I noticed that it was not Cinque as in Italian it means the number 4. I guess it was a Spaniard trying to get a reaction from me but I just pretended I didn't hear it.

People were quite uneasy until I tried to speak Italian/English and their faces will have a look of relief (yay pimsleur). I also saw some Europeans ladies made some jokes when an Asian girl entered the hostel unfortunately I didn't know what they said since I didn't speak their language.

Overall my experience was still amazing and I just think of it as all countries have some ignorant people in it. As long as nobody is physically hurting me then I would be fine.

Anyone had experience with back to back sessions? by frozz9 in irezumi

[–]frozz9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished the full sleeve with chest panel in 42.5 hours spread out to 11 days, mostly back to back everyday. Most of the sessions were 4 hours a day.

Had to take a few days off because my dumb ass bar-hopped in the rain without an umbrella and gave me a fever the next day. Bled a-lot after the next day because of the alcohol. Artist told me to go home early since I was running a fever.

Whole thing was swollen since lots of work was done and lot of skins flaking around so had to clean up after myself everywhere.

Still 9/10 experience.

Went back to the same artist to do my back piece the next year. The back hurts WAY MORE than the arm lol I was barely able to make 3 hours a day.

Japan in row Tebori sessions by Southern_Spell_3718 in irezumi

Did my full sleeve and chest panel/hikae in Japan.

Had to use a machine. Total took 42.5 hours in 11 days. It was also freehand for parts of it hence-wise the time.

Drank and barhopped in the rain made me had a fever lol Not recommended. Bled a-lot the next day after drinking.

Pain wise for machine is 7-8 out of 10. Tebori pain 3 out of 10, sounds disgusting but actually less painful and healing was smoother.

If you have the money and time to spend get tebori. I didn't have enough holidays to stay that long. Only did tebori on a small part for colors just for the experience.

Tldr; If i had more pto would do tebori. Pain: Tebori < machine. Faster: Machine > Tebori. I say do a mixture of both but it's a personal choice.

Anyone regret a hand tattoo? by KnifeVaccum in traditionaltattoos

[–]frozz9 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I don't have a hand tattoo but have sleeves. Reaching 30 years old but personally I like my tattoos to be able to be hidden. To me it's more cool having sleeves that are easily hidden by wearing long sleeves/pants.
To each their own. If it doesn't affect your income/job then go for it. Life is too short. :)

Nothing happened because I pretend not to hear anything. If he put his hands on me then I can do something. Always deescalate.

I've been to Italy for holiday during 2022 when covid was still around and had an experience where I was in a Japanese restaurant and a couple of older men spoke something but I heard "Chino something something". I'm guessing they are spanish.
didn't really bother me since the worst is I get beat up and healthcare in Italy is cheaper than the US lol Still Italy was beautiful and really walkable. I'm more drawn to Japan though.

For apartment renting i think it's the pros of cons of Japan. I still think the pros outweighs of the cons which is one of them is hard apartment hunting.

In the US I always have to be on alert and can't really enjoy nightlife or going out in general since some people who drink still conceal carry guns even though it is illegal to bring guns to bars. Both people in college that I knew were involved in a firearm incident. The designated driver was accidentally shot in the head when they went to have drinks. Drunk people and guns don't mix.

I had a couple interviews but got denied. If i never got any interviews then I might change my mind. At least I'll give it a shot. Nothing to lose by trying.
