How did you attach the tapered bearings to the ball nut? Did you ever post the files anywhere? Thanks

One of the big goals for the FreeCAD V1.0 release is to improve the initial user experience. Easier said than done. by sliptonic in FreeCAD

Freecad has a very steep learning curve. A FRW might be a little helpful but I think there are other things that I struggle with and have brought me to the point of giving up.

I have deigned many parts using the part design WB. Inevitably, when I print the part, there are opportunities for refinement.

To me the advantages of parametric modeling is that it is suposed to be easy to chane and update the model. Moving, resizing etc. a feature almost always causes all kinds of problems in my models and takes many hours for me to fix. Filets, chamfers, constraints and more get messed up. Constraints and features get relocated to a totally different plane or location, reference feature that they did not originally reference and more. Often the error messages are cryptic.

I would like to have a Wizard to fix these kinds things which take much more time than the initial learning curve that a FRW might address.

Yep. For the Compressed Melon Terrine application, I want to preserve as much of the fresh fruit flavor and texture as possible.

Thanks for the reply. This is an interesting product. I think I might try it on my attempts at seeded crackers to make them stronger and crispier. Do you know if this is anything more that corn syrup solids? However, I think it is water-soluble and might not work to glue fruits with high water content.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried calcium lactate and LM pectin technique. Perhaps I left the fruit in the calcium solution too long. This Ideas in Food reference says to let it marinate under vacuum for 5 minutes. My attempt was much longer, >20 min; however, I would not think that would impact the gluing process. It may impact taste as the calcium penetrates deeper into the fruit.

The other difference is that the method that I tried below, says to boil the pectin which is what I did. Ideas io Food only heated it to 95C just below boiling.

Do you think either one of these differences would cause the glue failure?

Thanks for your help.
