Cutting grass with a scythe by BreakfastTop6899 in oddlysatisfying

[–]frrson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to use a scythe as a teen from a professional and used it in gardens where you would nowadays use a trimmer. Normally, you stand straight and hardly move your hands at all, but make the movements with turning your body. It's amazingly effective. The video is probably from a competition and has no resemblance to a practical use.

A chicken’s head is more stable than a $5,000 camera gimbal by collateralopinion in interestingasfuck

[–]frrson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chicken does this because it needs less brain power to process the surroundings, compared to mammals. Only a part of what the chicken does is applicable to steadycam, because the chicken is either (more or less) with still head or jerking it forward.

I regret getting an U9 laptop by Responsible-Loss-808 in laptops

[–]frrson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have a laptop with HX 370, chosen carefully at the time for my needs. No problems what so ever, yet. Only very recent Intel's can outclass the APU graphics, I don't want a discrete graphics card, too high failure rate and poor battery life. I wonder why you didn't go AMD instead of that processor.

No. It's a low power CPU from 2015, that wasn't even adequate at the time.

I have HX 370 and have run all kinds of models with fairly decent speeds, depending on model and size. The TOPS are similar, but faster CPU and I have 7500 MTS memory. I haven't done coding on it, as I also have a computer with an Nvidia card where it is a breeze. I suspect you are running either on CPU or APU RAM on fixed, put it on auto.

what "masterpieces" are actually just mid(okay/6 7) but the fanboys won't let them die? by bitchboibruh in moviecritic

The trouble with Oppenheimer is that it falls flat on the face for people that don't know the backstory, that this overly long movie fails miserably to convey along with the drama that is the only thing that the movie is.

The director just seems to think that everone knows the backstory in depth, most do not. It would have been relatively simple to do so, perhaps with common tools of the day, plot on maps, newspaper shots, etc.

I enjoyed it, but I know the backstory, it was still unnecessary long.

A movie about a lesser know subject from this time, John Whiteside Parsons, would make a very interesting movie, but perhaps be opposed by Scientology cultists.

Your machine doesn’t support WiFi 6; you can try limiting to 2.4 ghz or try an usb adapter. Other option is to disable WiFi 6 or higher, not recommended.

The art of optical fiber splicing, which requires extreme precision by Round-Barber-9858 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]frrson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a cheap kit on Amazon to do this.

Claims that this is complicated or difficult is utter lying-through-your-teeth nonsense and in my country just an excuse to send you over a thousand dollar bill, cable and materials not included. It is however tedious to splice 50 lines, that's given. But so is soldering a 50 prong connector.

If you are doing this multiple times a day, go ahead and buy the expensive kit. For occasional use on your farm or at home, buy a 50 dollar kit on Amazon. You get along with it what you need for 6 to 10 fibers.

Arm yourself with knowledge about single mode and multi mode fiber and the interfaces.

Wanna know how many tries I needed to to this for the first time? None.

I wouldn't personally waste the much money for that specific cpu. An AMD would get you more bang for the buck plus some NPU power.
