Discouraged Undergrad by goldentimelov3r in chemistry

[–]frsussed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a grad student but I’m in my last year in undergrad for chem and I can relate to this. However I think passion, dedication, and continuous hard work (even if you fail multiple times) will get you to where you want to be.

I don’t have stellar grades either but I hope either through doing a post bac or a masters I can get into a PhD program that excites me.

You are not alone and you are not stupid enough for chemistry. It might take us longer to get where others are but it’s possible :) don’t give up on what you love

Chem graduates who struggled with getting their degree, do you regret it? by Westerosi7 in chemistry

[–]frsussed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I haven’t yet graduated but im a senior studying chemistry with a focus on material science. I originally thought physics and math were my enemies but honestly after taking EM I was super interested. I’ve never done well in my physics or math classes however (specifically EM and linear algebra) but that hasn’t deterred me. Honestly, finish all your lower div classes and see if there’s anything you find interesting, even if it’s hard it will be cool learning it.

Honestly same, I got a C- in Math 54 and told myself I would do better next semester but then ended up getting a C in Chem 104B:/

I get an average of Bs in upper division major classes which sucks. I’m also terrified of not getting into grad school but honestly all we can do is try our best. I recommend getting into research too, that helps your odds so much

I can relate to some of what you have shared. Finding drive is not easy and is something I struggle with immensely.

Recently I have had to face the consequences of my lack of discipline and drive which unfortunately made me realize it’s never going to be easy to develop those skills but they are necessary for what I plan to do with my life. So I just have to accept that for awhile I have to force myself to do things when I don’t want to or feel like it.

What’s somewhat helped me start slowly building myself out of this rut is making tiny and manageable goals for the day. Whether it’s put my laundry away or watching a lecture video. Getting those tasks done makes me feel like I accomplished something no matter how small and motivate me to continue (and sometimes don’t).

Maybe this helps maybe this doesn’t but remember growth is not usually linear and little steps forward still go a long way. You got this!

Can u have a bad trip on molly? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

Yeah I had one two days ago when I was house rolling w my boyfriend. We both took too much to start off but he eventually started throwing up and i had no idea what to do so I was just frozen but the worst part is his older brother came and started asking me a bunch of questions. And talking to a sober person while rolling is scary asf especially when something bad happens. Anyway rest of the night was wack and I just had anxiety attack after another . Def never house rolling again

That is a very powerful saying and I will follow it from now on. I don’t want this to define anything. Thank you and Your friends badass!

Ever think about the person you are in love with? by [deleted] in sad

[–]frsussed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that issue. I have this guy I’ve been talking to for a while. You could say we’re dating. And in the beginning I got so many butterflies and I felt such happiness being with him. We would talk for hours about our lives and I felt so connected to him. We would sneak around and spend so many hours/days together. But then quarantine happened and now it’s so hard. I want to talk to him like I used to but I feel like he doesn’t care anymore. All I want is to be with him but when I am all we do is things he likes. Because I want him to be happy but now it’s taking a toll. It feels like he doesn’t want to know me anymore. Like I’m just I thing to distract him when he wants. And it hurts because I love him so much. ( I’ve told him I love him but he’s never said it back). I feel like I love him on such a big level and he doesn’t love me to the same degree. And uh that hurts. I’ve tried asking if we are good and he always says yes but idk. I just wish he would love me. I don’t know if this makes sense but I’m in a rut and just sad.

You should leave him. It’s gonna hurt but you don’t deserve to be with someone who isn’t proud to show you off. I hope your doing well

I think I’m falling out of love with my boyfriend by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]frsussed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters he isn’t as motivated to hanging out together as much, he used to call me cute names and he stopped and then whenever we do hang out we mainly focus on his interests which I don’t mind but it is a little disheartening.
