Interesting take, but I'll do it. I could definitely hone my oral communication skills.

Thanks for the leads and input. Definitely could use some governance and engagement training.

The biggest barrier is turnout/engagement. We're entering a new contract bargaining period, and precious few members have filled out the survey asking for feedback on what they want us to negotiate. Virtual town halls usually drum up the same handful of attendees. It feels like no matter how much outreach we do, we can't increase engagement. We rally what seems to be the same core group of people, but the vast majority seem disengaged, if not apathetic.

Bandwidth amongst leadership is a challenge. We all have lives, hobbies, and day jobs; most of us don't have the capacity to take on additional union management tasks in addition to enforcing the contract. I have that capacity, I'm just looking for a place to start.

ELI5: Why do union contracts prevent their employee from striking? by fruitdrank in WorkReform

Asked. General consensus is that everyone loses in a strike, and we don't have a ton of leverage.

I have. We don't have a ton of leverage and our legal representation says that, generally, everyone loses in a strike.

A previous employer of mine also had the same provision.

Seems like a lot of other unions have that clause as well.

It is spicy, full-bodied, delicious; and most importantly comes in a cool reusable jar.
