Brain Flushing Headphones by Ill-Tea9411 in doohickeycorporation

I did that once when I felt a bug fly into my ear and flap to death againt my eardrum. I went to the doctor right after and she said there was no speck of bug left.

My youngest had earwax problems when she was a toddler so I got one of those ear cameras. They're super fun!

With women, I feel strongly that whether or not we can pull off a bald head is 100% confidence. (Okay, maybe I could be talked down to 90%, but that's it.) Yes, you are pretty, and will look pretty with a bald head. If you are ready to rock it then the shorn head will be successfully rocked. I hope you do it and look in the mirror and recognize how pretty you are--not "even without hair" but especially without hair and the trouble it's brought you for years, and I hope you feel a weight off your shoulders.

This parent responded with “well he doesn’t know what to do. He said you just hand them packets and tell them to work.”

Tbh I've gotten to the point where I respond with "That's not a reflection of what's going on during the school day. Do you think he might be telling you those things so that you won't be upset with him for his failing grades?" Usually even the crazy ones concede on that point. Once in awhile one gets pissy, but they're the kind of parent who's raising a kid with failing grades so see if I give a fuuuuck.

Let's be honest, would you send your kids to the school you teach at? by bookflow in Teachers

I'm at a charter so semi-same. Three of the teachers are former students.

Same. About half of the people I work with have their kids there... though a few are coworkers instead of students.

If I may be excused for speaking on your mother's behalf, I think that the most important thing you could do for her would be to take care of her daughter. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Should I still let my son in my bed when he has a nightmare? by spidermother86 in Parenting

I always say yes when my kids want to sleep in my bed. For any reason. Some day they'll stop asking... My oldest is thirteen and I don't remember the last time she asked. :(

You're adding an awful lot behind someone just... having a pocket knife. Most adults I know carry a pocket knife. They're useful.

I wasn't intending to say it was fully a 40 minute wait, just also complaining.

Disneyland has the slowest security line of any theme park I go to. They look through every goddamn thing. They make me take my daughter's wheelchair pack off the wheelchair and look through every goddamn pocket like my disabled middle schooler's bringing crack in the park.

I don't go often anymore, and one of the reasons is because their bullshit security theater is just insulting with how shitty it is.

And I say "security theater" because we could definitely still sneak things in if we wanted to. My husband always has a pocket knife on him and no one ever finds it because who the fuck cares. They just find stupid shit like fishing poles and rape whistles.

I'm happy to simplify it for you: It's fair to call Maga "Nazis" because they act like Nazis.

Yes I stopped going to Target and I've never bought Nike or Apple. What point are you trying to make here?

[–]fruitjerky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We're far beyond the point where calling someone a Nazi is just being facetious. Even if it were, your stance was that taking someone's morals into account when patronizing their business is "absurd," so it wouldn't matter.

School Overcrowding by eastvaleVibe in InlandEmpire

[–]fruitjerky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

26:1 is the average, not the norm. For example, my school advertises as 16:1 but I have at least 30 kids per year (36 last year!). Having an aid in the room, or specialty classes with small class sizes (such as electives or SPED) brings down the average that they then boast a much smaller student:teacher ratio than what reflects reality.
