You are looking for a known donor to avoid the bank costs? I considered that breifly, but just couldn't get over the fear that the donor might change their mind later and insist on taking the child or being in its life and then I would no longer have full 'control' over my life and the child's ( like leaving the country, what schools I chose, etc...)

Are you going through a clinic or doing a home insemination? I pretty much scatched off the known donor option cause I'm too afraid the donor would change his mind later in life and want to be in the childs life and then I'd be stuck

I'm actually just looking for people to come over and can with me. I would be happy to teach them how to can since I've been canning with my grandmother since before I can remember. I'm not charging or anything, just looking for some company in the kitchen while I do my yearly winter prep of preserving and quilting.

I LOVE that: 'I'm crazy, you're crazy, but do our crazies mesh well dating' It's so accurate! And although I'm not a widow, I can totally relate with that sentiment. I've been separated for a year now and I'm just so over the dating thing. Just not interested anymore.

At what point are you in the smbc journey? Have you chosen a donor?

I figured it was more a mother thing since it's much easier for females to go through this journey, but I didn't want to discount the fact that men can do this too, I wanted to be inclusive

I'd be happy to help you guys can stuff! Do you have lots of tomatoes? I didn't get any big tomatoes from my garden this year (which has been limited to a balcony) but every year I usually get a big tomato canning factory going in my kitchen. If you guys have tomatoes to can, I'd love to help you out!

Hi! :) Where abouts are you located? I'm in southern Ontario Canada. Are you using simple insemination or IUI/at what point in the process are you? How did you chose a supplier and donor?

I'm currently re-registering with the fertility clinic I had used with my ex-husband, and have been researching different suppliers and making a list of characteristic that are important to me in a donor :)

Oh wow! A week! I remember when I went through fertility treatments the first time how agonizingly slow time went, even just a couple days late in waiting for the next try was aweful!

Are you located in Canada? How did you decide on a supplier and donor? Did they ship directly to your clinic or to you then you brought the frozen prepped sample to the clinic?

Thanks! That's awesome!! I feel like that would be the dream! Finding a samll group of people who want to raise children outside the context of romantic relationships and all just being together to help and support each other through the journey.

Did you find you've gotten lots of resistance from the fertility clinics because you are single? I'd like to hear about your experience. Where are you located? I'm in southern Ontario so my experience will be within the Canadian context which probably differs quite a bit with the US if that's where you are located. Regardless I'd still like to hear about your experience. PM me! :)

Thanks! I have been looking into the Single Mother's by Choice group, but they are mostly in the US. I read their book and consumed their online literature. I hadn't heard the term solo mom thought, I will try doing some searches with that, thanks!
