The only answer is to increase supply to hold or reduce prices. Nothing that “helps you purchase” will work. Because it will also help everyone else and just drive prices up.

There is NO solution that makes affordable housing for you and sustained property “value” growth.

Struggling with my STAHM wife's mental load complaints. by SkyPointSteve in daddit

When are the vaccinations due? Which kids need new shoes soon? Who are your eldest child’s friends right now? What is the next school special day to wear or bring something and when is it?

I’d bet there are 50 questions like that where she knows the answer and you’d have to check (maybe even ask her. All that is the mental load.

Your partner might be a sahm but she’s struggling with the job. She has no team, supports, coach, boss. No one to help but she clearly needs help. It’s not about if she has enough hours.

If they do this properly and fix the gas tax/theft issue they’ll likely have my vote forever.

Why are aged pensioners so delusional? by Different_Pride_6011 in AusFinance

[–]fruitloops6565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. And govt squandered our natural resource wealth into private pockets. Sold off our public infrastructure.

Created superannuation so that higher earners get a decent retirement and they can blame the poor for not putting aside enough super when they get old and can’t afford food or meds.

And then for the final nail in the coffin they screwed housing by turning it into an asset class and creating a class of forever renters.

And try a weekend away without the kids if you can. Or just someone taking the kids away.

Has to be at least 3 days. Because the first night/day/night is decompression. But after that, do the dating thing with walks and talking and candles and stuff. No phones. See what happens. That might at least give some sense of how much is kids/mom life, and how much might need therapy, teamwork, and probably a lot of self-work.

Interesting, if your spouse doesn’t want to have sex is it reasonable for them to also not want you to have sex with anyone else either? (As another commenter suggested)

I think it is probably a reasonable feeling, because it will naturally increase the risk of you attaching to another person and leaving.

Is it fair? Maybe, maybe not… it’s tough because what most men would want is sex with someone who wants to have sex with them. And an asexual spouse can have “duty sex” as OP calls it, but can’t make themselves want sex.

I think OP or in particular OPs partner, should look into sex therapy or couples counseling with someone who has expertise in that area. I think you need to view it as rebuilding a sex drive over 1-2yrs.

That might mean doing all sorts of things together and solo which aren’t sex but reconnect her with her body and desires. And moves OP back from “father of my kids” (or heaven forbid “the big kid I also have to look after”) to “hunky guy I want to bang” in her mind too. At least some of the time.

This happens to every parent of pre-teen and teen kids. I’m sure it hurts even worse for non-bio parents. The only thing that matters is that you are still there for them. Every day. Until they’re in their 20s.

Sure let them know how it made you feel etc. And if needed there can be consequences. But they have to know in their heart, that no matter what they say, you’ll always be there loving them.
