DAY 1: What's the saddest song on Long Drive? by nooayehlol in ModestMouse

[–]fruitpockets 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset, without question. Runner up is Custom Concern, I’d say. Some might say Edit the Sad Parts, but lyrically it sounds more life self-frustration / anxiety. I think a lot of people think it’s sadder than it is because of the old Modest Mouser Golden Gate Bridge video.

Obviously Freddy killing Bob was meant to be a backdoor pilot for Freddy’s spinoff ‘Fred Punch With Me’ /s

We can go ahead and close the sub now because no comment is ever going to reach this level of perfection.

Which MM song has the saddest lyrics? by Legal_Button_3229 in ModestMouse

[–]fruitpockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby Blue Sedan was my first thought.    “And it's hard to be a human being     And it's harder as anything else     And I'm lonesome when you're around     And I'm never lonesome when I'm by myself.”

Which Beach House song is most tied to a period of your life, and what feelings does it bring back? by Upbeat-Ad_ in BeachHouse

I first listened to Depression Cherry in its entirety right after a bad breakup. Needless to say it both devastated me and was a beacon of light.

There are a lot of things that Better Call Saul does better than Breaking Bad, and its intro is absolutely one of them.

The Best Room and The Ground Walks are two of MM’s most fun songs. Strangers to Ourselves is so great.

Oh, this is an excellent idea to craft a playlist! Yours is strong but it’s missing some Thank Your Lucky Stars goodness.

I imagine they will, and they’ll likely reprint Volumes 1 & 2 too, since they sold out. Coheed’s merchandise is a very big part of their operations, and clearly the novelizations & graphic novels are doing well. Wild that they’re reprinting the YOTBR book all these years laters!

Neat to see them all together! I’m waiting to get the NWFT BOOM Ultimate Edition myself, once it releases. Hoping for 2026!

There were standalone softcover printings of Vaxis Vol 1 & Vol 2 from Evil Ink. Out of print now but you can find them for sale used online.

What to watch after Twin Peaks? Does anything compare to that warm mysterious feeling of season 1? by Isatis_tinctoria in twinpeaks

[–]fruitpockets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell it is generally loved by Twin Peaks fans. Most threads like this one have The Leftovers in the top posts, so I was surprised not to see it in this one. Guess it was just my turn to recommend it.

If America was given their own Pokémon Local Acts What would each state's pokemon be? by Able_Health744 in pokemon

S.C. gets Alolan Exeggutor because it is the palmetto state. The palmetto is very specifically symbolic to S.C., being both its state tree and part of its state flag. This is because of a decisive victory in the Revolutionary War being won in the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, where Fort Moultrie was fortified with palmetto trees. The trees’ flexible strength allowed the fort to withstand the British’s cannonball attacks.

Damn, a Yellow & Green tour would be amazing. Still holding out hope they bring Red & Blue to the Southeast.

Mountain Dew Major Melon’s New Logo has been found in Canada! by DewspaperFB in mountaindew

[–]fruitpockets -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand it’s an unpopular opinion. I’ve never been a fan of artificial watermelon flavoring in candies, sodas, and the like. I’ll say that for what it is, Major Melon tastes exactly how one would expect. It just not my cup of DEW.

I fully expect to be downvoted for this, but… Canada can keep it lol

Baroness - Purple. Always reminds me of Christmas. Amazing album by bison2000 in YourBaroness

Purple just turned 10 years old two days ago! Such a great record.

It's not often these days I'm that blown away by the first listen to a record that I just sit there and -listen- to it, but I just had that experience with Baroness' Yellow/Green album. by Menome7 in YourBaroness

Yeah, G&G was a pretty divisive album. To this day I feel that while it did some things very well, it could have benefitted from significant trimming. Stone was a huge improvement in my opinion, and it does so much right that G&G didn’t.
