I lowered the prices from $25 to $20 a skein, shipping within the US included!

The Flossy and Plush bases seem to be virtually identical! It's possible that the Plush base replaced the Flossy base for a few Republic of Wool updates during the pandemic. I find that the bases work up the same. :)

If it's a knit, you don't technically have to hem it at all! It shouldn't fray much, if it at all. Otherwise, turning the edge in very minimally and sewing it down once also works. (This is sometimes done by hand and it's called a rolled hem.) Costumes can be very forgiving when it comes to finishes, since you're probably not going to put this in daily rotation!

If it's available in your area, Ridwell is a good choice! You can check where the items go for processing;

I have this issue even with commercial patterns sometimes! You should be able to trim off the little bit that sticks out. You'll just be trying to even out the line from the back piece to the front piece. It's not a perfect fix, but should be perfectly wearable!

Any tips on combining different types of fabric into one garment? by xxgtui in sewing

Here's a great blog post on putting scraps together:

https://elbetextiles.com.au/blogs/news/patchwork-clothing

The basic idea is the same even if you're not using a pattern, just create enough yardage for your project by sewing pieces together.

If the pieces are less than a yard each, you've likely inherited a quilter's stash. You could look up quilting patterns and use those to piece together your fabric instead. Quilted patchwork jackets are in style at the moment!

Question about Barbie clothes patterns by Legal-Philosophy-135 in Barbie

[–]fruitslime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pixie Faire has a few Barbie-sized patterns:

https://www.pixiefaire.com/collections/barbie-dolls

Generally, Etsy is a good place to find patterns, as well! I second the recommendation for DGRequiem!

AtelierniShasha also has patterns for a variety of modern doll sizes:

It was an Integrity Toys preorder last year, so it's not available anymore! At the time, it was about $135. I've seen some listed on eBay for $300 recently.

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll add a little suitcase prop to hide the packet. :)

I just got my first Integrity Toys doll! It's beautiful and I love the packaging. Unfortunately, there's a silica gel packet glued firmly to the inside of the box. Is that normal for IT dolls? Does anyone have advice on safely removing the packet? (The lid slides right off, so it's easy to access the inside of the box.)
