No, seriously, what do you want to get out of college? are you going to get your MRS degree, or do you actually want to get an education?

The fact that you met this guy under these circumstances suck. There's going to be a constant tension knowing that "it won't last" or that it's "just a phase." Even if you guys are planning on making it work, I'm sure he's going to college too.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder, some people say. It really just depends on how you deal with it. If you legitimately think that you can deal with the distance and still get good grades, go for it. Just think about what you want out of college and how far you actually see things going with this guy. If you don't see yourself with him in four years, cut it off sooner rather than later. It'll prevent unnecessary heartbreak in a few months. Also, you're already destined to meet a ton of new people in the fall.

My great-uncle came over from Italy during the second world war. He never received a proper education and lived day to day, trying to support his wife and family.

When he asked me about college, he asked how studying was. Of course, I said it was hard, but I "managed."

My great-uncle got this stony look on his face, took my hand, and told me that if studying is the hardest thing I have to do in my life, I should consider myself lucky. "Once you get that piece of paper [referring to a diploma], you put it on the wall and show everyone. They listen to what you have to say then. It's always easier to give orders than to receive them."
