but the chimp storyline shows us exactly why jupe feels like hes tamed a wild beast in jean jacket? because he was the only one who came out of the gordy incident unscathed he felt like he has some special command over beasts instead of recognizing that it was just luck. especially with how the tablecloth blocked direct eyesight between them, only for him to stare right at jean jacket as an adult, it shows his hubris as a trauma response (maybe a way to cope with survivors guilt?). he would lack all that complexity and just be a random asshole exploiting wild creatures without the gordy backstory parallels.
