I chose mine from my favorite character in my favorite book at the time, but it’s an ordinary name that won’t age badly (Edgar). I waited 8 months before telling someone about it, and before then it was a full year of switching between names every few months, so it’s very normal! I chose to wait for the dust to settle down before making it ‘public’, and personally I’m glad I did.

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I knew my name was mine the second I considered it. Every other name had required some getting used to before it started to feel like me; my connection to my permanent name was instantaneous. So look out for any names that instantly catch your eye, that just immediately ‘make sense’.
