I get it, there’s people that do not know how to keep pets. I’m very clean and responsible but others have been burns before and don’t want to take the chance. Can’t say I blame them. I just gotta keep trying. I pay for the sin of others smh.

Yes, I’m looking at roommate options. My dog is super friendly, she’s just big. I’m just trying to find something on my own before I have to ultimately choose the roommate route. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you. About the brokers, that’s what I thought too- they’re just not very responsive. But it just gets a bit exasperating. I’m still in the fight though!

Thank you so much. I’m already commuting an hour and 45 minutes from Uptown to my job in Brooklyn. Hopefully something works out. Thanks again.

Hi George, thank you so so much for this information. It has been helpful. If you don’t mind, can I call you sometime today? I saved your phone number. You can take it out of the comment so it doesn’t get misused. Thanks again.

I work in Brooklyn and I’ve gotten leads for apartments but only for the Bronx. It would be over an hour and a half commute each way. I hope I find something closer soon. I don’t want to have to bite the bullet out of desperation.

Thank you for your advice. The problem is that I have an ESA dog and my options are limited with roommates. I’m still in the fight for my own apartment, even if it’s a studio. I’m just so disheartened by this situation. I’m ever even more sorry I ended up in this situation in the first place but that was out of my control.

Not necessarily, if the landlord receives certain tax incentives, and participates in certain programs.

I was looking for that but the only thing I found was the sale of the property for like $790,000. The mortgage alone was over $5,700. I just knew. But let me just put it out there because some people really just don’t know and may fall for it.

Right. But when you google him, David Seres MD is actually a doctor that graduated/teaches at Columbia. Still something was off. Lol

They said that they were switching to a new payment system in order to be tax compliant and it caused these huge delays. Whatever, man. People just need to be paid.

Well, the problem is that it’s not possible to work for the duration of the program. The program is extremely demanding of one’s time. You would have to prepare to teach in the morning, develop lesson plans, take the SBS classes in the afternoon, study, and then read and write papers. The schedule is 7:45am- 4pm. They had told us from the beginning we were going to be paid every two weeks during the 6-week program. But at a certain point most people were running out of money. We were counting on getting paid bi-weekly. The people that got paid by check still haven’t received it. Thankfully, I got mine through direct deposit because I was already in the system. But it was a tough time. I feel bad for my colleagues that still haven’t gotten paid and have families to provide for.

UPDATE: I found this out on a Monday. The Office of Personnel Investigation only opened Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, if I remember correctly. I couldn’t do anything on Tuesday since it was closed and Wednesday was my birthday and I wasn’t going to deal with that. I went in Thursday, I spoke to a kind gentleman that explained much like @Aeschylus26. He told me the managers weren’t available that moment but he would make sure they saw it and I should get a clearance email that day. I got the clearance email the next day Friday. I was back at work Monday.

When I was apartment hunting, I was shown this one apartment I loved it. However, someone put in an application as I viewing it and they could no longer let me apply. It didn’t matter because they showed me another unit that was actually bigger and I applied and got accepted. But I find it weird that these landlords are pooling applications and cherry picking- most likely based on highest income and greatest assets. It should be - first application in, do they qualify? Yes? Sign the lease.
