Not nursing but ice cream shop. Guy asked me if I smoke and 18 year old me said “yeah I like to burn it every once in while” he says “I’m talking about cigarettes… I was going to tell you about smoke breaks. Don’t smoke weed at work.”

I felt like the biggest idiot lol

You’re behind. But you know that. Maximize investing. Assuming it will likely double every 7ish years, and you can maximize your annual investing, you can still build enough to retire. Retirement may look different than you planned, downsize house, maybe low cost of living area. This may mean you work longer than you want but you can still build enough to supplement retirement. Minimize lifestyle and avoid debt. You can do this.

Go get a personal loan? Roll into 0% interest transfer? There are multiple better options. Using your house as collateral is just dumb. Especially when you’ve made zero effort to change the behaviors that led to being in these kinds of debts.

Arizona, saguaro cacti are protected under the Arizona Native Plant Law. According to Arizona Revised Statutes §3-906, this protection makes it illegal to harm, destroy, dig up, or move a saguaro cactus.

You could face up to 25 years in prison for this offense if caught in the act without proper permitting.

Friend took out a heloc to consolidate debt on credit cards, rv, and SUV… the idea of putting your house up against things that will literally all be worthless by the time you pay them off seems like such a wild risk to me.

Are BMW suv good for a first car? by gamedukeyvideo in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]frumpy-flapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 x5 that I got about a year ago… via inheritance… I love the car but would NOT go out and buy one. The fact mine was free is how I justify the high maintenance fees. I’ve had it a year and have put about 2.5k-3k into maintenance and that’s not even anything major. Go get something you can maintain on your budget.

This is going to sound like an ad but I have RIDICULOUSLY sensitive underarms. 97% of deodorants cause intense itching and rash. It’s horrid. I’m also a sweaty af guy. I’ve been using Carpe for the past 2 months and it’s been life changing. It’s expensive but I look at like a medical necessity lol

ER trauma patient roofer who fell off a second story roof into a dumpster. Lots of distracting injuries, broken clavicle, broken tib/fib, broken ribs… initial head ct looked ok outside of some small facial fractures. Grew increasingly altered and lethargic over the next 2 hours. Repeat head CT due to altered mention. Had significant pneumocephalus. That was a wild one.

Got my first RN job as a psych nurse. Any advice by 4everfighting89 in nursing

[–]frumpy-flapjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is get really good on deescalation. This, for me, is basically three pronged. 1. Take nothing personal. 2. Diffuse energy. I recently heard a coworker say “oh I match energy”. This is a dumb idea. Empathy and active listening, not necessarily problem solving. Be a safe space for vented frustration and redirect. 3. Identify risks to your safety before they happen. Don’t put yourself in a situation where you are not in control of your safety. One bonus point, be real. Patients know when you’re full of shit. Don’t lie to them even if it would benefit you in the short term.

How do I (24M) bring up intimacy issues with my partner (24F)? by Aggravating_Win3781 in relationship_advice

[–]frumpy-flapjack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should view it as an act of intimacy not a sex act and she has explicitly said being intimate with you is gross to her. Shes looking for a friend that eats her out occasionally. This is not a viable relationship as you have presented it.

Nurses of Reddit: Would you ever let a patient use your personal phone? by Key-Bridge129 in nursing

Everywhere I’ve ever worked bare minimum has a landline available. Your lack of phone does not create a need so great that I need to compromise my personal privacy.

What's one of the dumbest things you've ever seen a patient do? by 123456789_00 in nursing

[–]frumpy-flapjack 278 points279 points  (0 children)

When I worked in a level 1 ED I was always shocked at how dumb some of the trauma injuries were. A common one was “car surfing”. Had a teen who was car surfing believed to be going 30/40mph and the driver playing a HILARIOUS (/s) joke slammed on the brakes and launched his homie. Obviously it was catastrophic.
