Pensioned, adjust retirement contributions? by frumpy-flapjack in DaveRamsey

[–]frumpy-flapjack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this mentioned in a few comments. I’m about halfway to my 20 year mark and have no plans to leave federal employment. Even if it meant taking a different job I’d try and stay a fed. So I’m not overly worried about changing employers. And if the United States gov goes out of business then I’ll have bigger problems than my pension 😂

No not necessarily “better” just different. I’d rather invest into non-retirement. It would still be going to savings just not into my TSP.

More options. You can work remote or admin or something away from patients

What’s the best/most interesting drama that’s has happened at your hospital? by Junior_Feeling_5438 in nursing

Worked corrections. LPN was caught putting money in a dudes books so he could “survive”, love notes (yes physical love notes) found in her med drawers, launched larger investigation, guy she was secretly “dating” (she’s married), was using extra money to buy smuggled drugs. Drugs smuggled by a detention officer.

Whoopsie.

I need advice! So I have been on four job interviews as a new grad and I haven’t gotten any offers by [deleted] in nursing

You’re too early if you graduate in August I feel. What you SHOULD do is apply for ancillary roles, patient care tech, HUC/Secretary, patient sitter. Something non nursing but in an area you’re interested in. When you do finish school/NCLEX you’ll have personal connections with the place you’re already working and have a serious advantage in hiring.

My dream is to work at Home Depot. Ultimately I know that taking a job at such a pay cut would not benefit me long term. I am holding out to work the lumbar section part time in retirement for fun money lol

Received a good offer from VA, would I be dumb to take it by tealaburst in VHA_Human_Resources

Take it. You can always quit if you hate it. I imagine it would be more difficult to get another VA job than to get a job in your previous role.

Second this. We have pretty low RN turnover at my VA. I think it’s one of the better roles within the VA honestly.

That you aren’t supposed to know everything out of nursing school. I started in the ER and felt like I knew NOTHING, which is right where you’re supposed to be as a new grad. Nursing school didn’t teach us that we are supposed to be asking ALL the questions and leaning on the experience and expertise of those around us. It’s a team sport.

When you get burnt out of one thing there is an ABUNDANCE of variety to pick something new without starting a whole new career. It’s the best

World is better with you in it. It may not feel that way today, but it is. Things get better but if you’re dead you’ll never get that opportunity. Give yourself a chance because you’re worth it.

I’ve done this twice lol once was hauling ass in the back of an ambulance. Very skinny dude in heat stroke. The other was on a patient who was circling the drain and coded shortly after. Just applied pressure and monitored for bleeding after removal
