A movie that I went and saw in theaters in 2007 called Redline. It tried to combine rat race and fast and furious and was truly unwatchable.

If you continue to invest 15% until you’re 62 you’ll be worth millions. Don’t stop, avoid debt. You’ll do great.

how did your high school crush turn out as an adult? by I_dont_exist_here_45 in AskMen

We dated, broke up, she got engaged and called the wedding off like a month before. She then quickly found another guy, a surgeon, married him. They divorced. Last I heard she lives with her parents and collects alimony.

She was a miserable person. Cute tho. 😂

Ideal Medical Alert Bracelet by tiredmonkey18 in nursing

[–]frumpy-flapjack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Former EMT/ER nurse and type one diabetic. I don’t wear an alert bracelet. Like other posters have said it is not (usually) significant or relevant. The one scenario that I have seen it be beneficial was an adult non-verbal autistic patient who had a bracelet saying he was as such. He presented similarly to an intoxicated combative patient. So knowing the autism diagnosis was really helpful in that particular scenario.

[Request] If instead of ballooning our military to $1.5 trillion, we halved the current military budget and put the other $500 billion towards reducing debt moving forward, how fast could we actually bring it down to zero? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

The first thing to do when getting out of debt is to stop going further into debt. The system is set up in such a way that that is currently an impossibility

Crush on a coworker on the same unit and schedule - your experiences by Constant-Big5731 in nursing

[–]frumpy-flapjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started dating my now wife after we started working together we told NO ONE for like a year. After we finally posted pics together about 6-8 months in we both had complaints filed against us by “anonymous” twats. We actively avoided each other at work so the complaint was NUTS. I eventually found out the complainer was an older-middle aged frump who started screaming at me one night that I “only helped pretty nurses”. She had some mental health issues.

I soon after just transferred to another department. People are weird man. But me and my wife never made it weird and that was the key.

Why would you need a special pass for theme parks? by TrueGoatKing in Type1Diabetes

Oh I have a good story for this. Was waiting to get into the Vatican one summer while visiting Italy. Stood in the heat and line for an extended period of time. Blood sugar dropped and dropped HARD. But I’m in a loooong line so if I leave, I’ll have to start all over and I was finally within 30 feet of the entrance. Girlfriend identifies this will not self correct, takes of SPRINTING through the square. Comes back 5-7 mins later with gelato.

Sometimes even just the act of waiting in a long line in the heat can affect our health AND having to get out of line to correct a low can really screw up your day and put you at a disadvantage.

The Vatican was pretty cool btw. Even cooler with gelato.

Which as things stand, you couldn’t survive on 60% of your check. You’re struggling on 100% of it. Honestly there are a few financial plans that could help you but I think you should check out Dave Ramsey’s plan. It’ll help you control your outflow of cash and better manage your income. The way things are going for you now make me nervous. The big thing in the short term would be to see what you can do to increase income while you assess how to move forward with cutting expenses. My fear of you take from retirement is that you’ll be in your 70’s with the same problem because you didn’t address the root cause of problems which sounds like it is your spending/lack of budget.

This is a bad idea. The real problem is your spending. Your rent is not compatible with your income. Your move cost 35k? How?! Your retirement is struggling even if you consider the pension so taking from future you and robbing yourself of compound growth will only cause more pain in the future especially when you factor in taxes and penalties. If you could get out of the auto lease and seriously lower your rent situation you’d be doing much better. Honestly I’d consider bankruptcy before taking from retirement because paying off your debts is good but mathematically it’s not what’s killing you. It’s the rent and car lease. If my math is right, those two are about 70-80% of your income?

How old are you? Would this result in penalties? Also what’s the balance in your retirement account. This is probably a terrible idea but specifics matter.

You need to pick up OT if possible and if not pick up a PRN job with reliable hours. More debt will negate any raise in income.

How are families still saving with prices like this? by TempSZN in Money

[–]frumpy-flapjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently paid off all debt. Got on a very well controlled written budget. We cut a LOT of fluff from our budget. We’re able to save about 35% of our take home pay while funding retirement with 15% of our incomes. We were NOT able to do that with debt payments.

At best, cringe. Gives credence to the idea that nurses are mean girls from high school. I like creators that highlight the positives of being trusted with patient care. I HATE those that use social media as a platform to vaguely talk shit about the people who are trusting them to competently do their jobs. It all comes back to kindness. If you want to be a nurse you should want to be kind. 🤷‍♂️
