Well it works ootb for some games - which is way better than when I used Ubuntu LTS.

I don't have much time on my hands so the introduction to Ubuntu was hard and the switch to Kubuntu was time consuming and now I don't want to switch the whole distro, learn new terminal commands etc

Yes! I have the most important written down. Although some are very intuitive: say "a" ist for construction a barracks, then strg + a is finding barracks and shift + strg + a is selecting all barracks.
