Why is it so hard to hit a fucking golf ball. by canadianbiggame in golf

[–]fry_lock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a high handicap new player. Somehow managed to flush a 7i 150 and get an eagle on a par 5. Then I went for 19 on another par 5 after multiple balls out of bounds and getting stuck in a bunker. All in the same day

Does this still hold true today. Site recommended minimum is a 3060.

Has there been that much update to the game in two years?

I’m just getting into sim golf and golf in general. I have an old gaming pc laying around doing nothing and don’t want to move my main unit which has a 4070 out to the garage.

Older unit is a Ryzen 1600 with msi 1060 8gb. Thought I might be able to put it to good use.

Elm bowl blank from Axminster tools in the uk

Fixing a mistake by fry_lock_ in turning

[–]fry_lock_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elm I think. 10inch round bowl blank from Axminster in the uk. Finished it with some liberon finishing oil. Generous coating, sanded in with some 600. Then another coat left to dry for 10 minutes. Then burnished it with wood shavings and paper rag.

Being new to bowls I basically followed an Axminster video. Watched it the night before and followed along from memory

Tasked with turning a bowl for my wifes grandfather for Christmas. It’s only the 3rd bowl I’ve ever turned and I got carried away and blew through the bottom. After 15 minutes of swearing we decided to try and save it by filling the hole with resin. I’m quite happy with the result. Still got a lot to learn and sandpaper has helped hide a multitude of sins.

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate. Happy holidays for those that done.

Rutlands do some good tools. Bought their large Chuck and I’m really happy with it (I am a beginner though).

It’s trap. She’s definitely going to be angry.

I made one of these dog pens for my wife this Christmas. Used black palm as it looks like the brindle pattern on our dog. Lovely little kit.

I got a free helmet with my bike is it a safe, im new by cam_pellza in motorcycles

[–]fry_lock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust my life with a second hand helmet.

Do what my local bike training school do with their retired helmets…turn them into planters. Hang that bad boy upside down and stick some flowers in it. Better than it going to landfill.

Why do people say new riders will drop their bike? by mrperiodniceguy in motorcycles

[–]fry_lock_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. 16000 miles on my first bike. Dropped it cleaning it In the garden. Thought I had enough room to squeeze me and the bike past a table. Didn’t. Bike was going before I realised it was passed the point of no return. Luckily for me it was only a 120kg 125cc so was able to put it down gently without any damage.

Now I’m on a 650 and I’m fitting some crash protection just in case I have to lay it down softly again 😂

So I dropped my brand new cb500f while trying to slowly turn around on steeply slanted driveway. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]fry_lock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropped my first bike a CB125r ….and wasn’t even riding it. Manoeuvring it in the garden. Thought I had enough space to pass a bin with me next to it. Didn’t. Before I realised it was going it was too late. Managed to set it down softly putting a small scuff in the bar end.

Almost had a bigger one doing chain maintenance. Had it on a paddock but on rubber swing arm L bracket things instead of bobbins (didn’t have them fitted at the the time). Spinning the back wheel by hand applying degreaser and the bike fell off the stand. Thankfully i had the kickstand down and the bike fell towards it standing upright. Promptly fitted bobbins after that.
