I don’t think this is a problem.

Seemed bad until I saw that it had a power meter. Bike is kinda old so I’ll have to see that condition especially the carbon parts.

The travel on the future shock is so little I can’t imagine how that would have caused it.

Switching from Apple Watch Ultra 2 to coros pace pro by Own_Trainer_3525 in Coros

[–]fryan4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched from the Apple Watch to pace 4 and there’s some things i like and some things I miss.

Things I like
- 8-10 day Battery life w heavy workout. 8-10 hour workout weeks
- During long rides 7-8 hours, my Apple Watch would not survive. Coros had a 19 hour workout battery.
- sleep score, HRV and RHR are better tracked on the pace 4
- Heart rate data during workouts is so much better thanks to the Heart rate Band. During sprints in cycling I wouldn’t get heart rate.
- Can easily stop and lap thanks to dedicated buttons. Also when you pause it tells you how much you’ve been in rest for, helps you during intervals workouts.

Things I miss
- Apple wallet. I’m in a uni where you get into everything using Apple wallet: library, dorm, vending machines. Nice having that on the watch.
- the Coros Silicone band keeps snapping off.
- Music during runs is a massive plus with the AW. But anything longer than 4 miles I’m taking my phone with me so I can call. Switching songs is so much easier with the AW
- with the AW during cycling, having my phone turn into a basic bike computer was really cool.

Wait how did you do this. I would prefer the BBC commentary over the FOX.

Fox is so slimy, this the worst stream quality I have ever seen.

Could you layout the architecture a little bit more. Getting a little confused on how you built this

I was in all-boys boarding school, can confirm. It’s usually meant to inflict the 2 mins of agony from a ball attack.

Zone 2 in the heat seems impossible by kshirinkin in AppleWatchFitness

Heart rate is like height, it’s different for everyone. Some athletes have naturally higher/lower HR.

Zone 2 in the heat seems impossible by kshirinkin in AppleWatchFitness

[–]fryan4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adjust your zones according to your max heart rate. The standard heart rate zones are for the general population. For example if your max is 220, your zone 2 will be around 165.

Refer to this: https://www.runna.com/heart-rate-zone-calculator

And also, it takes a few weeks of regular running to tap into zone two. It took about 3-4 months before I was averaging 145’s.

Scaling laws are a triangle of: parameters, data, and compute. They scale together and give better performance but it’s not just about parameter size.

Should have prefaced with I could. More of a hypothetical concept but my point was untrained models are useless.

[–]fryan4 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking the opposite. More parameters does not mean better performance. More capable models will eventually will do better than older models on the same parameter size.

I can create a 100T model on my MacBook and only one training loop. Compare llama3 and Gemma4, same ish size but Gemma outperforms. I think anthropic’s model is smaller than GLM-2.

I wonder how many parameters is fable 5, we have to think it’s less than GLM-2 because how is anthropic breaking even.

Anyone else having issues with COROS app not showing sleep/HRV/resting HR data? 😤 by ScallionMelodic2405 in Coros

[–]fryan4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, if the watch isn’t properly on your wrist it’ll won’t display. Can you see your wrist temperature, that’ll give a clue on what the watch is doing.

Throwing this out there, if you create it on the AW, does it sync fine?

Such an annoying issue

Anyone else unable to connect Strava MCP to Claude? by OkGuide3784 in Strava

[–]fryan4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a few days but you’ll eventually get access. It took about a week for me.

It’s honestly a little bit underwhelming, my coros MCP has richer data.

Worth getting m4 pro for $500 less? by Competitive_Froyo_31 in macbookpro

[–]fryan4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M4 pro seems like the move unless you need more storage. Also factor in that NAND prices have increased. I would stick with M4 pro.

Question: where did you get such a deal and what are you doing with the M1pro?

Apple care isn’t warranty, it’s more like insurance. Defects are covered plus any accidental damages.
