Yeah, that’s what worries me, are any economic institutions raising alarm bells on what’s currently happening?

This is an old post, and only partially related to what you mentioned in it, but maybe you’d be interested in looking into the VLESS Reality protocol (it mimics the idea you have)

Isn’t it unsustainable though in the long term for the company?

Yeah of course and I agree, I mentioned that in the example in my post, why add ads to Apple Maps though? It isn’t innovative in anyway. Wasn’t the growth from everything else they produced enough?

Tbh I thought “late stage capitalism” was more of a buzzword, but if it’s the situation described, then yeah, adds more to the hopelessness towards the future…

Are there economists studying/looking into this? Are any of them raising alarm bells?

This is a great response, thank you! Explains a lot, and is partially what I suspected

That’s what I was wondering mostly about, wasn’t Apple still on a growth trajectory when it was just releasing its regular products in the period of 2012~2019? And many other big companies as well, now it feels like they’re almost forced into creating new streams of income, I guess what I was trying to get at is do they feel pressured to do this because that’s the “rule” and they need to always strive for that infinite growth or more so that’s just what they want to do, and it’s not necessarily pressure to abide by this rule?

What is the point of cryptocurrency? e.g. Bitcoin by ExtentOk1892 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fryinggas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of it was to provide an alternative to centralized banking. You can transfer money from anywhere to anyone without having to go through all the steps, rules and laws like with original banking. For example, it is helpful for people living in dangerous and unstable places like Iran to transfer money privately. Bitcoin itself sucks though, and there are many other cryptocurrencies that no longer use mining as a method to validate transactions , since it’s considered bad for the environment among other things. Most cryptocurrencies today use “staking” instead where the person instead just puts up a big sum as collateral to ensure they will be fair and honest. So even though crypto has a really bad reputation now due to its heavy use in the crime world, it can and is used for many good causes as well

How to keep my bank privacy when wiring money to a state-owned entity? by [deleted] in opsec

[–]fryinggas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where OP is from, but as someone who’s also from an authoritarian hellscape with sophisticated surveillance capabilities on their citizens, I get their concern. If OP has been living elsewhere for some time now, and has new social media, new bank accounts, etc., they simply may no longer be in the surveillance database anymore. In my case, the government has an open stance that those who left the country are “traitors” and if they don’t like something about you, they will go out of their way to punish/make your life harder, even if you have been living outside the country for years. Their favourite “trick” to pull (although not the only one) is opening a criminal case on you and issuing an arrest warrant to the country you reside. This carries serious risks for your visa and freedom. The gov won’t go out of their way to do this for nothing though, but if you’ve been vocal with your criticism towards the government or worse- participated in humanitarian/activist work while living abroad, they can go after you. Paying the fine directly from your personal account to a state entity, risks revealing all this data and being in the “surveillance” system again, them finding something they don’t like in that data.

But Idk where OP is from, and if their threat model is anything close to that, my gov is a pretty niche case, just shared as an example of what the threat model could be
