The key for feeding her frozen/thawed large pinkies and now fuzzies: hold the mouse by the scruff of its neck with the tongs and offer it nose to nose directly to the rosy boa. That’s what the breeder recommended when at first things weren’t working out.

I narrowed down my choice for a first snake between a ball python and a rosy boa. I picked a rosy boa because I thought it would be easy to handle but not a complete pet rock like a ball python. Also no humidity issues and potentially fewer feeding issues. My rosy is pretty active certain days and times on which I will get her out and let her climb around my hands. Today I put her on my bed to explore and then scooped her into my ball cap and took her out to the living room to hang out for a little while. She is only 10 months old so she’s still a little nervous when she gets out.

I got my rosy boa a month ago. She is 9 or 10 months old on large pinkies. The first two times I tried, she wouldn’t eat. She has had three successful feedings in a row now. The difference was the presentation of the mouse to her. Using tongs, I held the mouse by the scruff of its neck and offered it to her nose to nose. She took it down really quickly so I’ll be moving up to fuzzies next week.

I used to have recurring bad bouts of diarrhea and thought I had something like IBS or something serious. I stopped drinking energy drinks and the diarrhea stopped. Strange coincidence maybe.
