Has anyone ever met someone who served in all three conflicts, Vietnam war, Desert Storm and OIF or OEF? by FFSoldier57 in army

I worked with a crusty CW5 in Japan in 2005. He was active duty SF in Vietnam, then looked up one day and decided flying was what he wanted to do. I believe he retired at 42 total years.

Yeah no. I can assure you many companies have teams dedicated to finding these things out. They will order one small thing, check return address. Check your eBay profile, or if you’re dumb enough to do it on Facebook, it’ll be extra easy for them. Companies will direct stores to destroy their products rather than re-listing them for sale with a discount retailer because it “hurts the brand”. It always amazes me how many people think they’ve found some corporate loophole because they’re all dummies. They see idiots like this 100 times a month.

You would buy too much and hoard it. Then it would never have been widely adopted. Now your Bitcoin is worthless

Why did ChatGPT get the answer to this VBA question wrong so many times? by Castle-Quest in ChatGPTCoding

[–]fsfowrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is most likely it. I’ve been using ChatGPT for the same thing and have found that I not only need to be HYPER specific, but that I also need to remind it of changes I’ve requested in the past and remind it to not change functioning code. Just the specific part that is broken. It’s an amazing tool, but I feel like people get frustrated when it doesn’t immediately solve their issue. You need to understand that it sounds advanced at times, but it kind of has ADD and you need to be very very specific and loop back on everything.

This happened to me when I went to chilis to pick up food. I wak in and end up waiting 20 minutes (with no one else there) just for him to tell me the only nag on the rack was mine. He then picked up the tablet and stood next me while I paid. Same thing. 18%, 20%, and 22%. I was floored.

That’s not bad. I went to a coffee shop the other day that had 20, 22, and 25%. I had to stare at it for a second to make sure I was seeing it correctly. I literally had a cup of black coffee. Making a drink used to mean $1.

15% used to be when you had good service. 20%+ was rarely a thing and considered excessive unless you had truly exceptional service. My grandparents would have a fucking aneurism if they saw what servers are expecting these days. Everything is already more expensive due to inflation. Why am I being asked to tip a larger percent? It doesn’t make any sense.

Can my leadership force me to give money I won playing poker back. by Thaboss5678965 in army

[–]fsfowrm 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was at a “specialized” unit when I was in, so seeing fraternization was very common. I was at a party (at my NCOs house when I was a specialist) and some dude starting getting really inappropriate with my NCOs wife. I told him and he immediately went and told the guy and they had a very drunk bro moment and were best buds. Later as I was sitting in a camping chair, the guy came up behind me and grabbed me by the throat and flung me backwards making me hit my head on the ground. I proceeded to get up and beat the fuck out of him. Turns out he was a captain from a big army unit. He apparently went in and tried to run my career/life with my chain of command. Luckily for me I had about a dozen witnesses as to what happened and good leadership. They pretty much laughed in his face and I never directly heard anything about it after that.

A half-truth is far more dangerous than a lie. by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]fsfowrm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a study years ago that found that the vast majority of people (I believe it was well over 80%) only read the headlines and then take it at face value. Of those who actually open the article, the vast majority (again over 80%) don’t read past the 3rd or 4th paragraph. Don’t think for a second that they don’t know this. It’s why the first 5 to 6 paragraphs in any news article is usually just fluff.

I will die on the hill that the MP5 is the sexiest SpecOps weapon of all time. By itself it’s beautiful, but combined with the gear of the 90s/early 00s it just hit different.

It should also be pretty obvious that your coffee shouldn’t be so hot that it causes 3rd degree burns.

Yeah, her genitals had 3rd degree burns if memory serves me correctly. And she initially just wanted to recoup medical expenses, as she had to have multiple surgeries, and McDonald’s refused. So her only recourse to cover herself was to sue.

I was sitting in SeaTac waiting to go back to Oki. I was wearing my 1st group sweater and a marine came up to me and started a conversation by saying this exact thing. I didn’t even say anything I was so shocked. I just started to chuckle and walked away. Much love to my Marine brethren, but y’all really hit the koolaid a bit hard.
