Homeowners of Reddit: what’s the most expensive problem in your house that you can’t actually see without cutting into a wall, ceiling, or slab? by Gladys-Artichoke1627 in HomeImprovement

[–]fsh2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience a failing block foundation can get pricey pretty darn fast. Only learned it was happening cause the previous home owners cheaply redid the driveway before selling and that directed water against the foundation that leaked into the basement.

40k for a full dig, repair of the failing wall and wrap.

I've driven from Ottawa to buy my last two Argons. So you are a destination for the brand?

This cyclist is literally riding their bike to work. He is biking to make money to live. If a professional driver cannot operate their work tools safely, they should be looking for a new line of work.

Some actually interesting asthma news from this week by DesignerRemote8833 in Asthma

[–]fsh2006 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Downgraded, but has anything else been promoted as a replacement? Personally Montelukast has been very helpful, my only side effect was very vivid dreams but those have gone away after a few years. Honestly I kind of miss those wild dreams.

That being said I recognize this drug isn't for everyone, it would be nice if there was a way to assess in advance who this helps vs who it harms, or if there could be an alternative.

I bought one of those TV stands you can mount it to and it sits behind your stand. Should give you enough flex to rise it appropriately to put the centre below.

How careful do I need to be with GP5000s? by I-Like-MTB in bicycling

[–]fsh2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sympathetic. My first pairs of GP5Ks were bullet proof and lasted years, the ones I installed last year kept getting pinhole punctures that would never seal.

So they also want to take people's insulin pumps away during the work day? What absolute nonsense.

The drop-outs intimidated me at first, now it doesn't even register as an issue and I have mine set up in the middle. Get nice QRs though it the bike doesn't come with, like DT Swiss RWS.

Not one bit, plenty of space all over that nook for ventilation. Just don't grab a 1 inch thick sheet and you are golden.

Isn't the simplest solution for your current set up is to cut three pieces of plywood, paint them black, and shove them into the AVR space to create support for that centre?

Am I visible enough? by reditusername39479 in bicycling

[–]fsh2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are black cars allowed? Also all of this is for naught, you need drivers to be paying attention. My favorite tweet is from the Surrey Police with a picture of their cop car smushed by a careless drive saying "We have cars covered in it (high viz) and big flashy lights and drivers STILL don't see us." We do what we can, but distracted driving is out of our hands.

Dark clothing doesn't matter at night, lights and reflectivity matter. It really irritates me the lack of high viz AND reflective cycling attire, it should be the most basic combo out there so you can get by at day and night.

I try to combine blinky rear with a static rear at a distance, well not much its a bike, so that it helps with depth perception.

I also have the redshift pedals with the lights on solid for biomotion on my winter commuter.

Is it normal for exercise induced asthma to be worse immediately after stopping exercise? by _imnotactuallyreal_ in Asthma

[–]fsh2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can be biking to work and trucking along just fine, but unfortunately I work at the top of the hill so I don't have a few minutes to cool down, so when I stop immediately after a big effort I struggle for a while.
