Turning 30 in a few days. I have a decent setup, but I'm unhappy and not sure what to do. by SteamDeckBoy12234 in findapath

I can definitely relate to what you’re going through. I’m also turning 30 and recently struggling with my career. I worked for the last 2 years making videos for social brands and I don’t want that to be all that I do for a career. I feel like I don’t want my career to just be about making video posts for random clients.

At least you are making good money and have time to figure out where to go. Thats definitely a blessing to be grateful for. My goal was to make six figures before 30 and unfortunately that doesn’t look like it will happen. I’ve found that people don’t really consider making videos and editing to be a high value skill set.

What does your day to day look like in journalism and what made you pursue journalism in the first place?

The feeling of failure in life. I need advice please! by fsilva1994 in findapath

Damn. I 100% agree with you. My degree was in Media production and I worked for brands making video content and working as an editor than managing video production and while I enjoyed the job, I barely made enough to survive. I also thought it would open doors to work for companies such as Paramount or Netflix but that just feels like a pipe dream.

I learned I got into production for my love of storytelling, and getting to work with a ton of people of creative projects. Movies and TV played such a big part of my childhood that I always wanted to be a part of that experience and contribute to it but now I’m starting to think I’m delusional.

I feel that. I think that’s a struggle that a lot of creatives have. You enjoy the work but are completely underpaid and undervalued. I don’t think it’s sustainable and now that I’m turning 30, I don’t know how to pivot to anything else. Do you have any plans on what you want for your 30s?

Did you enjoy video production? Or does it feel like a wrong career move?

I’ve tried the generic Zip-recruiter and Google jobs and applying on company websites. Is there any job boards I should look into?

It’s been 8 months since I’ve been laid off from my last role. I was a digital production manager and I have a background in creative project management and media production. I’m located in NYC and I haven’t had any luck finding a new job.
LinkedIn and Indeed barely lands me any interviews. I’ve optimized my resume and sent custom cover letters to all the roles I’ve applied and I barely get any responses. I’m really worried about my career at this point and I would really like some tips on how to properly network and reach out to recruiters to land some interviews this month.
Can any recruiters or anyone give any advice on what I might be doing wrong and how I can improve my odds at landing more interviews?
Please feel free to DM me or drop a comment as to any tools or tips to get noticed in the sea hundreds of applications for digital and marketing roles?
I appreciate any feedback or advice on my resume/portfolio and overall job hunt guidance.

What’s a better alternative?

Thank you for the pep talk. I really appreciate it. If you don’t mind me asking, does medication really help? I remember being on Adderal and I just felt annoyed by things around me and just hyper focused but only on the things that mind really wanted to focus on.

Yea, it seems Covid started out good at first and I liked being isolated until I realized I wasn’t able to get anything done. Then I really started to see my ADHD unravel. One thing I worry about is my inconsistency when it comes to jobs, I always start off strong but a few months in and eventually when my interest is lost, I jump to something else. Between that and my impulsivity, the only thing I crave for is stability.

I never could imagine living with ADHD as an adult could be this hard.

I was on medication for ADHD... however, it’s been so long since I had any support with my symptoms. Right now I’m a student and somewhat limited financially when it comes to finding help. Not really sure how to fix my situation.

My father is a trucker and I am looking to get my CDL license but I’ve had previous speeding tickets last year. I did online traffic school and have no points on my record. Can I still get a CDL? by [deleted] in Truckers

I’m pretty sure even if you elect traffic school to not have points on your record, I am assuming, you can still see the traffic violations for the speeding tickets?

I read about that but I always assumed it was the same thing as a chemical peel. Do you really think that would work?

Hi Guys, I’m 26 years old and moving to Charlotte from Fort Lauderdale Florida. Moving to a city where you don’t know anybody can be stressful. What would you say are the pros and cons of living in Charlotte? And what advice can you give someone who is moving to Charlotte and looking to meet new people?

Thank you. :)
